Pedigree and talent alone, Pittsburgh is a tier one defense. The issue is, in terms of production, overall mid tier two at best.

Said thread title is true though. Enough has been invested in the defense. It is now time to for the defense to attain results.

Ike Taylor was on one of the NFL tv shows earlier this week giving his top 3 hard hitting secondaries.
He said that the Steeler D would be #1 for the 2016-17 season.
Then they tried to correct him by saying , we asked for the secondary not the Defense.

He started to say, before being rudely cut off, that during the 2010 Super Bowl Lawerence Timmons played safety.
    What?

It's not like Ike has any objectivity, three players from the Steelers secondary haven't played a down in the NFL yet Davis, Golson, Burns. I wouldn't put much stock in what Ike has to say.

2nd year for most of the guys in Butler's defense...
An overall upgrade in the secondary......

Our defense will be improved; somewhere in the top 15 of the league at least. It's better to have a little lower expectations but get higher results. :)

All of those high draft choices, isn't it disappointing we weren't better last year than we were?

Should we be more confident next season? Or are we just optimistic fans?

we would have been ranked much different if we would have made the tackles that will allen and blake missed. that alone was the major factor in our defense looking as bad as it did. we are still young on this D and getting younger. the two guys that cost us the most are gone. we will see if youth helps that stat. i'm hoping yes. a year 1 to year 2 jump is usually the biggest leap for a player. the year 2 to year 3 usually sees a player stop thinking ans start reacting more. we have quite a few guys in these ranges.

Yeah but no one mentioned him till someone said Davis was drafted in round 2. We hadn't talked about him yet. Then BBH said my bad like BBH mentioned him in the 1st post. I am a natural blonde. I get confused easy Ha!
Like a valley girl hair flip?? haha. Oh and Davis was a 4th rounder

2nd rounder. I assume you meant.

If you were referencing my post, please read it more carefully. It was a smart arse comment. "Post 4" not 4th round.

I think we should have more confidence because we finally got rid of a bunch of dead weight from the DB position and added more potential talent . As I have been saying for years that we will never know what the front guys can do unto we upgrade the back . I have faith that we have finally done that...
