I am noticing that too. Seems like he would be a solid second rounder, especially if the Steelers part ways with Edmunds.

    [IMG] Lewis Cine, S, Georgia
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
    Projected Round (2022): 2-3.
    View Ranking History
2/19/22: Cine was a valuable defender for the Bulldogs in 2021, locking down the deep middle of the field. He totaled 73 tackles, an interception and nine passes batted. As a sophomore in 2020, Cine had 52 tackles and three passes broken up. Cine has a good skill set with upside, and some sources think he could be a nice value on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft. Team sources say that he could be a functional free safety, but Cine is at his best closer to the line of scrimmage as a strong safety.

This list is missing Daxton Hill. Almost every draft site I have visited has Hill as the second safety off the board.

    it's also missing jalen pitre.

not sure this is a big need for us this year with a high pick. we just drafted norwood and we have stiner as well. i'd bring back killebrew as an insurance policy.

on a side note, elam looks interesting. he's a corner but his dad and uncle were both good safeties in the nfl. he's got the size to make that switch or at least give you the flexibility to use him in many ways. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Kaiir-Elam-DB-Florida

I have seen sites that list both Hill and Pitre as corners. That may be why they’re not listed here.

I was reading on one of the scouting sites that Cine is great at breaking up passes but doesn't get as many interceptions as he should. It isn't because he has bad hands, it's because he soley concentrating on the receiver not catching the ball and swats some passes away instead of picking them off. It sounds like an easy fix. The big thing is that is coverage is outstanding.

If that’s what he is, then he fills a need. I haven’t had a chance to see him other than watching games on live TV.

His dad started a few years in the mid 2000's. His uncle was a pretty big bust for the Ravens IIRC. Had some injuries and an arrest. Didn't make it past his rookie contract in the NFL. I dont think they would both be considered "good" NFL safeties. Maybe his dad could. Either way he looks like a decent player. I'd prefer we go with someone we intend on keeping at corner if we end up taking a corner early in the draft.

He was a first round pick but didn't pan out well. Still playing in canada. He was quite good in college. As for the kid, he could be quite useful in the secondary. The kid from Maryland, (cross) or the one from Tennessee, (taylor) as well.

The Steelers are so awful at taking defensive backs that I would rather they use their picks to fix the d line and o line. I wouldn’t mind them trading down to do so. They will have enough money to get a decent d back or two in free agency.

Pitre is being vastly underrated and undervalued in my opinion.

depends where he goes but i think they know he's a good player from a decent team. baylor had a good season. i think it's more about where they value him at. a corner some have him as and i think that's wrong, his value will come as a safety. good cover guy in the right system. cross as well. he covers a lot of ground on the backend. both pretty good coverage guys that can tackle. neither are in the box types but can do some things around the LOS.

    Yep!!

Stated all of this as such in my Top Five Positional Rankins. Jalen Pitre's NFL Future will depend solely on his DC and, most importantly, seeing him for how much he can provide versus what he is in name only. Pitre is more than just a mere "box safety" and attempting him in such a role is criminal.

Needs to settle down when he gets into the league but when he does, move his behind around; namely in the STAR Role. For me, I believe that Pitre will contribute sooner in his Rookie Season than others are willing to give him credit for..... provided he lands in the ideal spot of course.

So I was watching various videos of Ridder, and in the “Desmond Ridder, Part 2” film by JT O’Sullivan (The QB School on YouTube) he shows an All 22 analysis of Ridder vs. Notre Dame. In the All 22 film you can really see Kyle Hamilton’s lack of burst in man coverage on both slot receivers and a TE. He gets beaten badly off the line, and could not recover on slot verticals and a TE crossing route. Does it mean that he’s not the #1 safety in the draft? No. However it does show that he’s not a perfect prospect and his 40 time, especially the first several yards, shows up in man coverage. Go watch it and you’ll see what I mean.

there will be a huge difference between him doing it at ND then when he gets in the pros. teams will take advantage of weaknesses and game plan around them. his best bet may be a change to a hybrid LB, ala marcus allen. exactly what we got him to do. now there have been DB's that didn't run the 40 with fast times and were good but it's rarely about straight line speed over reaction, anticipation and quickness. not sure how he stacks up in those area's.

Sure wish the Steelers would scheme around a team's weaknesses and plan around them
