The team takes on Ben's gunslinger attitude?

I wonder if some of the recent plays are a reflection of Ben's never-say-die attitude. Grimble trying to bowl over the DB, Washington laying out for a big catch, Conner hurdling trying for extra yards. Sometimes seems like the equivalent of throwing into triple coverage. Sometimes it works - stiff arms for big gains, diving for a TD after a blown play. Sometimes it backfires - interceptions, incomplete passes, and fumbles. I guess I like that better than complacent football. Makes things more exciting, but not always a great outcome.

I think the team takes on the Tomlin approach more and does whatever their heart desires with very little game time preparation. For once I'd like to see all the little meaningless inter game celebrations stop and they actually kick some ass and take names while putting together 60 minutes of focused intensity.

Chuck Noll would drive these guys into the ground this week and it would show up on Sunday night. Not sure I'm going to see that anytime soon.

I think there’s a bit of a gunslinger mentality to the team. I wonder if they were starting to feel a bit invincible the way things had played out over the last several weeks, capped off by that improbable win in Jacksonville. While this loss hurts from a seeding perspective, it may have been a well-timed wake up call. “Oh yeah, if we blow the fundamentals we can actually lose...”

I’m really not worried about anyone but Ben. He can be so great, but also so boneheaded.... just minutes apart.

    I think it's:

    - Connor trying too hard to make us forget that other RB-who-shall-not-be-named
    - Grimble trying to play like the Big Boy TE we have that trucks everyone in his path
    - Washington seeing JuJu make the same dive on the same pass earlier and deciding he needed to do the same (overthinking)

Wake up calls don't seem to exist under Tomlin. When the head coach admits to looking past their next opponent (an opponent who man handled them at home the same season), why would the team take a different approach?
I'm braced for disappointment, it's just a matter of whether it will be before or after the playoffs begin.

I actually don't mind players taking on the Superman mindset - but you have to be smart, at the very least protect the dang ball.

We are the best team in the AFC if we played mentally sharp. We never will though lol. Like I have said before we are a 10 cylinder engine that misfires and has really bad oil.

Ben is 36. HOF QB. He's not changing now.

Yep. Which is kind of scary because a 36 year old HOF QB should have instantly known not to throw that goal line pick.

We ride and die with Ben.

They did vs. Panthers... problem is, Steelers never can sustain it like the Patriots do. This crap has been going on since '14 season.

That is the problem (not you, but the Steelers, NFL). Too many care about being exciting, making the highlights, etc and not about W. Ever watch a Patriot game, would you call them exciting? I say no, they're methodical and disciplined in their approach, which is why they keep winning.
