To further clarify lol, Keith isn't convinced until he sees the guy on the field hitting a different colored helmet. As it should be. Just thought it was funny the way he put it.

 

Him or Houston would be a great rotational guy, if healthy.

 

Would be good depth as stated he seems to still have something to offer..More games means Teams need to manage playing time even better ..I am a fan of using all the tools at all positions ..I wished this Team would blow people out early and play the young guys and bu's or even bench Vets playing poorly or when the game is out of hand ..
We always made it a point to get experience and rest for guys any time we could it seems like the Steelers don't even want to start playing until the 2nd. Quarter sometimes..

 

This would be an ideal signing. They were interested in Kerrigan earlier in the offseason as well by all accounts so they will definitely sign somebody. I think a third OLB is their greatest need on the roster, followed by CB depending on how guys perform in camp.

They could really use a deep safety as well, if anything happens to Minkah they are completely screwed. I still really want Malik Hooker

Just as I suspected their OLB depth is real. I was afraid this maybe the case.

 

After the starters Watt and Highsmith their is really a drop off. Having a solid vet come in for rotation would be a welcome site although i'm not sure about Houston.

jeh1856 posted a good read and shows how Colbert has not been adding older vets in the off season. I hope he breaks this habit this year.

The one thing neglected in the Steelers Depot article was that while KC has not been known to sign over 30 yr old players this late into the off season, the unique situation that surrounds the 2021 season is one that may make him try it on a limited basis.

Guys like Houston and Ingram may jabeen counting on their body of work to help secure a multi-year deal with a good deal of money, now find themselves waiting on phone calls and willing to take 1 year deals to get to the cap increase next year.

It also works in KC's favor since he doesn't need to sign such a player to a long term break the bank type deal that he never really does. He can swing and miss and it won't be too big a deal.

Great move, much happier with him on board. @thorn058 you were exactly right about this offseason being different. This guy would have been out of reach in other years. Playing across from Watt must have been attractive for him too

Question, is there a genuine competition between he and Highsmith now for the starting job at ROLB? I dont see why Highsmith should assume the job is his

One thing we can do that we usually couldn't is ask these players to sign a 1 year deal, and if you ball out we got alot of cap space next year to offer you a nice contract.
