There's no way we can go into the 2013 season with an o-line that doesn't have a single player that's played a full season. In an ideal would I would like to see something like this.

    Adams, Warmack,Pouncey, Decastro, Gilbert
Starks,Foster, and either Beachum or Legursky

why in the hell would anyone want starks back? did you not watch the game sunday? from the 8 yard line 2 plays in a row max let his man beat him. do you all see ben scrambling to the right all season? it's because the pressure is coming from max's side.

we started doing different plays we haven't seen all year with legs and malecki at guard because they can get outside to block. foster can't do that and colon can't do that and max can't block as a LT. jesus christ how long must we let this go on? don't you guys watch the games. max starks willie colon and foster are keeping us down in a big way. i'm ready to go nuts if i see someone else wanting these guys back thinking they are good, decent or even ok players. unfriggin believable. they better not give another nickle to max starks, colon or foster.

Even so they were our most consistent offensive linemen all season. You can't go into next year with an oline without a single player that has made it through a whole season. They can try your way, but I'll bet dollars to donuts that you'll see the same results if not worse. And you know damn well legursky isn't a better guard than Foster and Beachum will never be a left tackle. So if you don't want Starks and Foster two proven offensive linemen(even if average) as backups who do you suggest? Try to remember that we're already well over the salary cap so throwing big money at outside free agents isn't an option.

I agree. We tried the experiment without Starks two years in a row and it was disastrous. First we thought Jonathan Scott was the answer and then we thought mike Adams was the answer. Max won't be waiting again next year. I'm not saying these guys are all pros, but we need to be sure as much as possible that there replacement is more than capable. PLUS we'll be looking for a new oline coach

starks is gone he's not worth having. just because he played all year doesn't mean he played good. colon and foster are to slow to play guard in this system.

adams goes to LT. new LG.rookie, pouncey, DD, beachum. backups .. gilbert swing tackle. new guy say ( hugh thornton) because he can play LG and LT. get a guy that can play both C and G instead of legs. malecki didn't do bad either when used finally. barrett jones can play every position on the line at a high standard. i would love to see Lee brought back also. enough of the crap O linemen.

You actually trust Mike Adams to be our left tackle? 4 rookies or second year players on the oline to protect our most prized possession. I hope our new oline coach is a hall of fame.

The only thing Adams has shown us at LT is that he can be abused. You want Beachum as our starting RT and Gilbert as the swing? What brilliant ideas you have! I can't imagine why the front office hasn't thought of it yet.

max is the reason he's hurt. don't you watch him at all? who gives a rats azz about two years ago and jon scott? does that mean he's the only friggin LT we could ever have? give it a rest. starks sucks balls. he got ben hurt again sunday. he's aweful.

I almost want them to try your way just too prove how bad of idea it really is. If nothing else at least we would have top 5 picks in 2014. Maybe after Ben gets killed they can find another franchise QB.

He's the only left tackle that is better than Adams,Gilbert and Beachum.
But. I hope you are right and Adams comes in and plays above the line.
What I seen of Adams and the rest of the bunch, we need starks at least another year.

we did start beachum the last 5 games and the pressure wasen't coming from his side. put that in your pipe and smoke it. why is ben always running to the right side? does that tell you anything? how much pressure came from the guards all year? lots. colon and max couldn't block one man together, thats why ben was hurt this season. he also got hurt again sunday because max's man hit him as he was running to his right because max didn't block his man again. you really need to watch the line before you spout off about something you evidently know very little about.

Starks played every down and let 3.5 sacks all year. The problem is both of them are going to want to start and get paid like a starter. Letting foster walk costs the Steelers nothing cutting colon costs the Steelerslike 6 million.

You're just making stuff up now. Beachum gave up multiple pressures against Cinci, at least one sack and pressures against dallas. He was also beaten on the outside against SD repeatedly. He also gave up at least one sack against the ravens. SO why don't you go back and watch a little more football instead of spouting off about things you clearly don't know much about.

Beachum played better than expected, but he's still not hte long term solution at RT. He's better suited as a guard, but once again not long term. More than likely he will be the new jack of all trades backup. As they've worked him out at G,T,and C.

They let Starks go and had to bring him back, right? So it's not like they didn't try to part ways with him but there is something to be said about durability, especially on this team. He's not the greatest but not as bad as some are making him out to be. I'd love to have someone better but you can't just grab guys out of thin air. I'm sure they will continue to address the line as they have been recently, I don't think anyone can sanely come to the conclusion that this line is a finished product.

I'm a big fan of Starks he good against the pass but not so much the run. The only reason we got him back this year was due to the knee or he would have been elsewhere like I think he will be next year.

    :this!:

From what I've seen out of Adams this year I think he'll grow into our best OL. I think if the FO really wants to do this right, they keep Adams at RT and draft an athletic LT in the 2nd round, who would likely immediately come in and start. I don't see anything special from Gilbert that tells me he can play LT any better than Starks, and that's a problem, because he's not getting RT back unless Adams moves left.

wE NEED TO DRAFT SOMETHING OTHER than oline in this draft. WE need to get depth at lb, safety, and TE (Miller hurt and getting older)

well i see what i see and can call a spade a spade. max is not a quality LT in the NFL. by any stretch of the imagination.

it's also not just about sacks as someone said. theres a thing about run blocking. pressure that makes our qb have to alter throws, or throw the ball before our guys are open. hurries. hits on him, and a mirade of other things that happens to the offense that inept play from the edge leads to. i just don't understand the defense of starks play. it's just bizarre that anyone would want this type of play to continue.

he is the reason ben was hurt this year. he is the reason ben was hurt when he came back again. he was the reason ben got hurt sunday. you really have to watch the player throughout the game, not just at the snap and then follow the ball.

i stand by my assesment of max starks and have for several years now. he's not what this team needs as a LT. colon and foster are not what this offense needs as guards. i guess i'm in the minority and we will spin our wheels until ben retires or is carted off the field broken again. this offense will never function as it should until this is fixed. i've seen alot of good line play over the years and this ain't it.

all depends if they are ready to eat the colon signing bonus . i think they will wait the camp and see if they have a young solution at left guard and then they will release him spreading the dead money in two years

I didn't see any of his preseason work, and tuned in too late in the Cleveland game to see any of his snaps, so my body of work on him is the Bengal game. From what I've seen, he's very mobile, much like Pouncey, and if we can open up some initial holes and our RB's make it to the 2nd level, we can spring some really long runs with Maurkice and DD causing fits for the LB's and DB's. He seemed very tuned in to his assignments, maybe a little too much (rookie jitters, probably), and while he'll probably never move piles like a similarly-sized Faneca did, he'll be a solid technician that can get in the way of the DL long enough to disrupt their movement. Pass pro seems legit, enough so that we won't have much interior gap pressure.

I think DeCastro was the best pick for us, and while the Wisconsin duo of Zeigler and Konz received a lot of praise this year, DD will claim the title as best interior OL from this draft. (Osemele may be best overall OL from that class).

Ben got hurt because he held onto the ball yet once again, nothing more nothing less. I know you see what you see and call a spade a spade, but you might want to mention in your little tirade what actually happened on the play. Little things like Ben had 5-6 seconds before he was hit, Colon came in for a double team and whiffed, and one other rather minor thing. Starks's man was actually the 2nd person there.
