I was more receding to the Holcomb didn't cover Austin on one pass play as to why Alexander was brought in. just looking at his last few years and they are not overly impressive. Most pro's can make highlight reels of plays made. Many are because the offense didn't block them or others held the runner up somehow and they come in and clean up.

As far as curry, I don't think it can be worse than what we saw with olsavsky. Too many years of sub par play from that spot.

as far as scrubs, some guys you just see some positive things from. Muse is one this year and Riley is one I started talking about last year. They may not be superstar but if in the game they won't kill you. Many of these type of guys most fans know nothing about them, so I enlighten them. That's all. it has formed its own life from there.

I always appreciate when you do talk them up and there is always that diamond in the rough that they seem to find.

I think its more of a signing that shows we don't like the depth behind Robinson. We were a Holcomb injury away from starting Roberts/Robinson with Muse/Kwiakowski as back ups and getting meaningful downs. Not a great place to be. He has no guarantee of starting, but he should get ample playing time regardless. We tend to roll with a pretty good rotation depending on the matchup, so it just means we now have 4 somewhat capable ILB's. Outside of Holcomb being our top ILB the playing time will largely be decided by performance.

Boy, I am not sure how this will shake out? Many players vying for limited minutes.
How do you rotate? Should be interesting to see how this plays out over preseason.
Hopefully some people will separate from others.

this is a weakness on our team this year - a big one. we are weak (again) up the middle. Will we get GOUGED with the run? Who knows.....time will tell. missed assignments, playing hesitantly, not knowing exactly where to be, etc.

this is the largest part of my muted optimism for the season. add this to a questionable set of CB's and this D could be a mess for a while.

I HOPE the offense can offset this with MORE POINTS!

I think a lot of people are feeling like that about the team. There are a ton of new faces. It is going to take a little time for everything to gel and for the rookies to learn as they go.

There are concerns about ILB and CB, with NT and how the DL will be rotated and how they will use Leal. Again, mostly about some youth and new faces, but it feels like the DL and EDGE are going to be the strength of the defense early with a chance to be dominant. They are a little more of a known quantity. I think the secondary is going to probably have some struggles early, but young and talented is a good thing. It looks like Porter will probably be rolled out there with Peterson and Wallace being the veterans. A guy like Riley is looking to be making his mark as the Nickel corner and is probably fighting it out with Norwood. Minkah is a force on the backend, and Kazee appears to be a very capable player when healthy.

I think the defense has a chance to be beastly by the end of this season as guys like Porter, Benton, Herbig, and maybe Trice, if he makes the 53, get more snaps under their belts.

Everyone is hoping for more points this season. I think it's going to happen. I'm not going to say they will be a juggernaut, but if they can just continue to control the clock, finish more drives and give this defense a few more points per game, they are going to win some games.

At this point, we hope the offense scores more points early and continues to improve. The defense holds up early and improves as the year goes on, some young studs show they are studs, and they get into the playoffs and are a dangerous team.

That would be a great season for me.

He's not that young. Alexander is 28.

A bigger Larry Foote? Alexander is listed at 6-foot-1, 227 pounds. Foote was listed at 6-foot-1, 239 pounds. Colon's skills as an analyst are comparable to his ability to keep Roethlisberger out of trouble when they were teammates.

Potential weakness. It depends on how they perform of course, but we appear to be deeper on paper. Its an unspectacular bunch, but we have 3 capable players and a guy in Robinson that looks to be developing into a quality back up at the very least. Holcomb is solid, Roberts is fine and Alexander is actually a pretty good player too. It wont be a strength, but I don't think it will be as glaring of a weakness as last season

CB is a question mark for sure with Porter and Trice being rookies, but young and talented is not the worst thing to be. Peterson will be a good one to learn from too. Our corners were nothing special last year. Trading out Sutton for Peterson and swapping Witherspoon for rookies is not the worst look in the world.

My biggest concern with Mark Robinson is his pass coverage.I could be wrong but I think he is too slow to be good in pass coverage...Of course, he could be an asset against the run heavy team but I would be surprised if he becomes a 3 down LB.I would be also suprised if he don't make the final 53 man roster

Teryl Austin told the media in the Spring to not expect a big role for Robinson.

They were top 10 in run defense last season with crappy ILBs, I don't expect much fall off this season.

I like the ILB'er room a hell of a lot more today than I have since Shazier went down.

You have to like Alexander's attitude he said when puts the pads on he's going to hit, something you would never hear from Devin Bush .

    That’s never a good sign

Agree on this. Alexander will get the start as Tomlin loves these type of speedy ILBs.

I still say Robinson will be playing for Flores in Minnesota this year

    No other team wanted him

    The Jets didn’t want him

He was signed for vet minimum

He was signed for one year

And you two think he’s starter material

Just to be clear do I have this correct
