Just curious how you know what I think, LOL. Actually, I think Alexander will backup Holcomb. I think Robinson will backup Roberts. I think Herbig, Muse, and Neal will find sub-packages inside. Not that all 7 will make the 53, just where it looks right now.

Damn, and I forgot about Kwiatkowski(sp). There's plenty to play with here.

It may spell trouble, but how many do they keep on the 53? The depth squad had Holcomb, Roberts, Robinson, Russell, and Kwiatkoski. Adding Kwon is just depth at this point, one, possibly two of these guys are cut barring injury, but it's a long way till the final cut. Robinson has always been a long shot with high possible upside, as they work through this camp they will make the decision if the progress warrants a spot, but I honestly do not think having Kwon in camp grants him an immediate spot on the 53. There was a reason he was not signed until now, just saying.

The reason(s) could’ve been his own. The Steelers were obviously interested in signing him back in May when he was brought in. He probably left keeping his options open hoping for a better offer/opportunity. Now that camp has started and he hasn’t been offered anything better, he’s here.

I see him as being more than just “depth”. That’s Muse, Kwiatkoski, and Robinson. Alexander is going to be in the rotation and playing regularly if he stays healthy.

I think people getting excited about this shows more about how bad our ILB situation has been more than how 'good' be is. He had experience, but I would not recommend putting 10 bucks down with Sportsking on us getting that 7th SB trophy on this guy. lol

Overall I think that Holcomb and Alexander will be our top 2 ILB but of course the steelers will rotate depending on the matchup and the situation(like the down and distance) but this will be our 2 best ILB

I'm actually with you, great signing and he may ball out, but tempered with the reality of what the situation has been. Reading your post above and his stat line, then seeing some YT and twitter postings, "The best coverage LB in NFL is now a Steeler". Huh??????

I don’t mean spell trouble as in getting cut, I meant that Kwon may start over Roberts and that Robinson may not be as close as I had thought. I was starting to have high expectations for him. I still think he will have a spot on the team, just further away from being a factor than I anticipated.

I don’t think anyone felt Kwon means SB, just that people were excited and surprised to get a quality player this late in the process. I’m happy with the signing, will help them one way or the other.

Dollars to donuts Holcomb, Kown, Roberts and Robinson make the 53.

I am not disagreeing, no doubt that room is better with him. One coach/exec (?) years ago stated the difference between the 70's and 80's Steelers cut days, he said in the 70's we had a hard time figuring who to cut, in the 80's we did not know when to stop, lol. Perhaps for the first time in years we have that type of situation, there seems to be really good depth in many position rooms.

Good signing, they needed another ILB that can play in pass coverage besides Holcomb. Alexander also had 6 tackles for loss last season, that has to be more than all of the Steelers ILBs had combined in 2022.

I think Kwon will start. He didn't come to Pittsburgh to be a back up. If that was the case he would of stayed with the jets.

I have to say Mac that you continue to surprise me. You are constantly singing the praises of guys who by most standards are scrubs with little hope of making a 53 man roster and slim chance of getting a futures deal or practice squad, heck you were doing it in another thread with some of the defensive backs and camp isn't a week old yet. Then you turn around rip a human sized hole in the sails of people looking at this as a great depth signing. It keeps us jumping and your record ponts to more often than not you are right but I want to see at least a preseason game with Curry in charge of the group before I saddle up my tired horse for the inevitable stop guessing the gap complaint and track the ball carrier.

I read this in a jets article. When Kwon is on the field he hits like a truck.

Roberts could end up coming off the bench, with Alexander and Holcomb as the starters.

Glad that the Mark Robinson aspect of this is not being left out here. If anything, this speaks more so of Mark Robinsons lack of improvement just as much as it explains Pittsburgh wanting another viable option to pair with Cole Holcomb.
