I wouldn't mind if they went in rounds 1-4 OLB, CB, OLB, S/CB. If you want to beat New England you better be able to rush the QB and cover. You can never have enough CBs, right now the Steelers need a lot help in that area.

    Hypothetical

Casserly's new mock has Kizer being taken at #31(has Steelers taking Peppers).

If Kizer is there, and Ben maybe being gone after this year, I don't know man, I gotta think about pulling the trigger.

Big, strong, smart guy. Gets to learn behind Ben for a year(hopefully).

    Could be a great opportunity.

Hate to be a former English teacher, but this isn't "the Steeler's draft strategy", this is "what I want the Steelers to do".

While I agree with a lot of your opinion, I believe (for no other reason that its what I want the Steelers to do) that your second OLB should be replaced with a TE, probably one in the Ladarius Green mold. Like having Martavis out there, when Green was healthy this year (you remember that five minute window) he transformed our offense. We go:

Round 1- OLB or Safety (believe for us CB value is in the second/third). OLBs with a first round grade/early to mid second are plentiful, and there are 4 safeties I would be ok with in the first.

Round 2- OLB if we don't get one in the first, otherwise CB/Safety/TE, depending on who falls. Only TE I would really be comfortable with here is Engram, although Shaheen is growing on me as a 2. This is where we get a safety if we're looking for a true free safety, as compared to a strong safety.

Round 3- CB/TE/S- There are too many good CB prospects for there not to be some left towards the end of the third. Likewise with TEs. The Strong safeties with some upside will be here, also.

Round 3 Comp- See round three.

There will be good developmental OLBs available in the last two rounds. Think 4 and 5 we get a RB and Receiver, not sure in what order.

Going to agree with Jball, though. If they decide to pull a Packers and get someone to sit behind Ben for a couple of years to learn, all bets are off. The only one of the big 4 I wouldn't take is Watson, not because I don't like him, but because I think he's the most Pro-ready. Highest floor, lowest ceiling type thing. And while the screaming and beating of chests will be heard all over Steeler's country (aka America), it was in Green Bay when they picked Rogers when they already had a star qb. And look how that turned out.
