My buddy bought the tickets and he lived about 1 1/2 miles from Three Rivers. We left his house early so we could get down on the field. It was open seating. When we got there he remembered he had left the tickets on his dresser. By the time he walked home and back the stadium was 80% packed. We wound up sitting in peanut heaven. Everyone else was pissed. I don’t like crowds, I thought it was great. We still heard the opening song. You were allowed to bring stuff in so we brought a cooler full of beer. It never crossed our minds we should have packed some food.

Went to the Rolling Rock Festival at Heinz Field. The line up was

Blink-182, Puddle of Mudd, 311, Def Leppard, Sum 41, Saliva and Trapt.

The music was awesome and people watching was even better but it still didn't rock like TRS used to.

TRS was not great sound wise with the exception for Pink Floyd but the atmosphere was always awesome during concerts.

I've been TRS, Heinz Field and even watched the Steelers play in Pitt Stadium AND Forbes Field when the Steelers alternated home games between the 2 during the late 50's and early 60's. I was just a toddler back then, and my Uncle Mikey would take me, even though he was down under the stadium on the pay phone doing bookie things. :)

I only liked TRS for 2 things, the noise and the name. I love the view better from Heinz Field but I wish it had been named Three Rivers b/c I always liked what that name meant around the 3 rivers view.

But for those who like TRS best, I am sure it was because it was then that the Steelers became a NFL power and was on their way to winning 4 SBs. I can understand that too...

Saw many games at this old friend. Not sure you could find
a colder stadium than that one in the winter.

My kind of philosophical discussion. I too am a retired teacher. School culture is current. Either you're part of now or you are not. They may remember and appreciate you, but you are no longer a member of the current culture.

Good memories of 3 Rivers... except the AFC championship game vs Chargers.

Saw Grateful Dead there before Jerry Garcia died in summer of '95. Was there for 2 Pirates games with Bonds and Bonilla.
