The 7th seed are 1-11 in the wild card round in this playoffs format...Only the packers in 2023 won a playoff game as 7th seed

Stroud definitely has the highest probability to be benched in 2026 out of all starting QBs in NFL. Who knows... he may turn it around.

Throwing 5 interceptions in that regular season loss didn't help, but yeah they couldn't stop Fournette just a bad matchup for them.

He was a decent QB until last season that's why I included him, I bet Houston will still give him a contract extension as their franchise QB.

Ben deserves just as much blame as Steelers run D. I've said this on many occasions. Terrible overall team effort vs Jags... regardless of the 40 points put up on offense.

Spoken like a fan who doesn't remember all the Cowher teams they were talking about making a rap video before the 94 Chargers playoff game IIRC. Or players telling the media before losing to New England in the 2001 AFCCG that they already packed their bags for the Super Bowl, the Patriots players were clowning them after the game .

Yeah, with Heyward, Tuitt, and Hargrave they should've been better against the run.

The arrogance by the steelers(like Mike Mitchell or Bell) before that game did not help.

And several offense was a bad matchup for the steelers, team like the packers(with their backup QB and with Shazier for the steelers)score 28 points against us....The packers could not score against the ravens the week before if I remember

My point is the experts every year pick the Steelers to finish third in the division, but they still manage to make the playoffs with mid QB play.

For the patriots, they had no 2 weeks between the super bowl and the conference title game that year,so they packed their bags for the super bowl just in case they win that game. You should know that

Never saw a Cowher run defense get gashed like Tomlin's vs Fournette/Jags and Cook/Vikings. Not even during the worst of Cowher's times... 1999 and 2003. Truth. Fact. Reality.

No feelings required (for the afternoon crew) :lolol:

And Tomlin has done a poor job to control him....I remember during that time when Cowherd had said that the steelers were the only team in the NFL who had a locker room similar of a NBA team.It was a true circus

Fred Taylor ran for 234 yards and 4TDs against the Steelers in 2000, the most yards ever allowed by a Steelers defense .

Not sure why the emojii here.

The argument I was responding to was that we should have won more playoff games when we had elite talent. With the specific example of the Killer B's.

I think many people think that Ben, Brown, and Bell played a bunch of playoff games together and didn't win. This is not the case.

I believe there are two playoff games we lost where all three started. The Pats AFCC (where Bell was injured early) and the Jax game (where absolutely everyone sucked - players and coaches).

I believe there are only 4 games they played together in the playoffs (including that AFCC game where Bell was hurt early).

I think TJ is the only elite player we've had since Ben got hurt...if we define elite player as something like top 10% of starters in the league. So like top 3 for a position where there's one guy starting (e.g. QB) and top 6 if there's two starters (e.g. WR). Maybe we argue there are 3 starting WRs on most teams, so elite would be top 9? Still not anyone on our roster since Ben got hurt.

And while TJ was an elite player in this time frame (sadly, not in the past couple seasons), the only game he really made big plays in the playoffs for was the KC game. Where we still got dominated even though we had a DTD.

It's really more like "we've mostly forgotten about the heart breaking losses in and out of the playoffs with Cowher because (1) it was a long time ago...and while most boards like this probably skew toward older guys, some likely weren't really following the team at that point and (2) Cowher won toward the end of his career (I've heard people say he won in his last year...) so the early failures are more easily forgiven".

My guess is that ~20 years from now (it's basically been that long since Cowher was our coach), people will mostly remember the good things with Tomlin. Just like we do with Cowher. Especially since it's unlikely for us to keep hitting 00 on coaching hires.

The steelers had the worst run defense in the NFL in 2021...It was so bad.Opponents had over 200 rushing yards almost every weeks in the second half of the season.Cowher would not allowed it!

Cowher had just needed a franchise QB to dominate...15-1 in 2004 and win the super bowl in 2005.The steelers were 27-4 including the playoffs in those years with Ben
