@steelersrule6@steelersrule6 edition of Good, Bad, Ugly:

    Good: 4-0

    Bad: Nothing. We're 4-0

Ugly: Anyone who doesn't wear a rose-colored welding helmet with a negativity filtration system and nitrous oxide pumped in.

    The Good: The offense.

    The Bad: The defense.

    The Ugly: The refs.

Surprised the defense was an issue. Not blitzing on 3rd and long burned us a couple times. The refs brought total unpredictability to the game with their mindless interventions, but doing so about evenly for both teams allowing the team that played better to actually win.

the way I see it is that this is probably one of the best d-lines we are going to see all season, for real, all eight of them, so its great practice for other teams but kind of an anomaly, also I dont think the d played that badly, I think the refs made them look worse than they are, I see a bounce back by the D next week

Ray Ray had 63 yards rushing, add that to the rushing total.

I know the team hasn't played great at times, and there are some things to work on especially defense, but they're finding ways to win.

I agree. I've said that numerous times already. I've detailed the differences between this team and those in the past, that being one. I've even given Tomlin some due credit.

    I'm not a complainer, I'm a realist.

    Hey Jujubean.

Your Quote: "this defense has taken a major step back from last year. If they can figure it out we could be legit."

Juju, I do not know what to say.

At this point I thought that the "kinks" would have been worked out of this Defense. Going back for a second here. After last season's performance, I am surprised/disappointed to even have to talk about "kinks". I thought that we were going to pick up from where we left off from last season. I honestly thought that this Defense was going to be dominating from what i witnessed last season. Now, add in an Offense which so far has kept up its end of the bargain, and again I am both disappointed as well as perplexed about this unit.

I have gone on record here with this team possibly leading the league in Scoring Defense and pitching a few shutouts along the way. So far, none of that has come to fruition. I thought after they pitched a shutout during the second half of the Houston game that they may have finally found their groove. It sure does not seem so from where I stand.

I would like to justify a "break in service" because of the temporary postponement of the Tennessee game accounted for the staleness of today's game but I am not into making excuses nor am i sure that theory holds any water.

I ask: Did this Defense "fall-off" that much, that quickly from just a season ago? I would like to think not. Nonetheless, I am still holding out that this Defense gets it together and quickly. For if they do, as you stated: "If they can figure it out we could be legit."

    Let's hope that they do.

Great - Claypool. This kid continues to amaze. Makes me regret cursing so much on draft day when he was selected.

Good - Ben. Ray Ray. Boz.

Bad - 3rd down defense. It’s now comical that a 3rd and 15+ yard situation is almost a guaranteed first down for the opponent.

Ugly - Officiating was bad...terrible even. Bad calls for both teams, but the phantom offensive PI call could have made all the difference in this game. Thankfully it didn’t.

Keep in mind, 4-0 is something a Steelers team has not accomplished in 41 years. That’s hard to comprehend for me.

Huge, huge game next week. Need more from Minkah, Bush, and the DBs. Plenty to dwell on, but I’m going to enjoy this.

The offensive pass interference call against Claypool was terrible and the pass interference on Haden wasn't much better, but they absolutely got it right on the 31-yard pass to Claypool that was overturned. His hand came down out of bounds before he got the toe on his second foot on the ground.

The Steelers had some really shoddy execution on defense today. They were fooled badly on the long touchdown run by Sanders, but they still had a great chance to stop it at the line. Hilton was in the hole but whiffed completely. To be fair, it never should have been a touchdown, but Ward got away with a blatant hold on Edmunds down the field.

Speaking of whiffing on a tackle, Bud Dupree did exactly that on Wentz to help set up the Eagles' second touchdown. He should have had a sack on third down. Instead, Wentz completed a pass and Vince Williams took a roughing the passer penalty.

    The good:
    1st place - #11
    2nd place - #7
    3rd place - being undefeated

    The bad:
    1st place - secondary
    2nd place - front 7
    3rd place - coaching

    The ugly:
1st place - situational awareness (our secondary not batting down a 50 yard bomb on 4th down)
    2nd place - injuries
3rd place - fans making excuses for lackluster play by citing our record

The record is the bottom line. The Steelers have been inconsistent at best, but 4-0 is still a very good place to be.

One thing I hadn't seen in the ugly was the injuries on the offensive line. Pouncey and DeCastro both left today's game with injuries and did not return. The Steelers are in some serious trouble if they have to play the Browns without both of them.

I agree with most of what you've said AQL, but I wouldn't say Minkah was ever a great tackler - that was his one weakness last season, as my memory has it anyway.

Ben's best throwing game, Secondary is a problem for us.If we don't get a
pass rush we are in trouble.

This defense isn't going to get shutouts, this isn't the 76 Steelers.

Agree about the schedule. Defense is going to have to step up or 4-0 could turn into 4-3.

Good: The sheer joy I'm going to have walking around town this week.

Bad: listening to vile comments about how we cheat. (they tend to think all teams that beat them somehow cheated)

Ugly: How many times I am told we are a terrible 4-0 team. We haven't played anybody and was lucky the Eagles had key injuries. Heard this twice already and I'm sure when I check my phone messages there will be more of same.

Going 3-0 in that stretch isn't likely, but they need to go 2-1 at least.
