So I got curious about Heath's progress after I read a post in another thread about AB being one of the hardest workers on the team and I thought about how I had always thought of Heath as a great worker too but obviously he doesn't have as much of a strenuous regimen as AB but that got me to thinking about his progress so I found this article from a couple of weeks ago. What I take from it is that Heath will be back earlier than what we thought but that maybe not as early as we would like because he will probably wind up missing at least one game. So how do you guys think we're looking at TE w/o Heath? Are you in panic mode?

Steelers can make do without him for a few games... they will be fine. I'd rather him be more than 100% healthy before he comes back....

Scared the crap out of me man, I was like oh no, what happened. I didn't expect to have Heath back for the start of the season so this isn't distressing for me.

Look for Johnson to play a larger role while Heath is out. I think he will be a good weapon for us this year.

Believe it or not, I think Heath missing a game or two out of the gates might do Ben some good. It might force him to have to recognize what is going on down field a little more than he is used to. Having said that, I hope it isn't for more than a game or two that Heath is missing. If the offense were a body Heath would be the heart!

Hope you're talking about Will Johnson and not that TE juggernaut, David Johnson.

I actually know that's who you're talking about but when I first read this I was loading the guns because for a brief instant I thought you meant David Johnson. :lolol:

I think they want to test this run game early anyway and MS is a decent run blocker.

I do agree will J. will have a good few games while heath is out. they want to at least show the rest of the teams we play, that we will use him and you better cover him. same goes with spaeth.

TE is a big part of the haley offense and this just might play to the emergence of ben in this O. he will have to use other receivers such as the FB and RB's and even still use the TE a good bit. all this brings less pressure on ben and gives our wr's more room to operate downfield.

MS is a huge target so his use until heath is back is critical. will J. is a much better receiver then really his use portrays. put this all together with the improved run game and ben and todd will have plenty of shots downfield too. ben should have a cleaner pocket in which to do this because of all these reasons.

you make other people go to guys when we are missing a player of heaths caliber. can't wait til he hits the field, but I do want him healthy first. no need to rush him back early on. MS will be getting the reps as will WJ in camp which actually may help Haley's truer offense be seen. I hope ben stays patient in it.
