Yeah they about kill you to get in the parking lot and you would think they are starving to death and you think they're driving a low rider but when they get out you just realize they look like Gilbert Grape's mom. LOL.

Who can resist eating the fries on the way home though? No mere mortal can achieve that.

wait, are just trying to be nice to me?

    :smiley1:

we don't have to agree on much of anything if anything other than Steelers being our favorite team and the hope they have success and I'm okay with that.

I completely understand slowing down for emergency vehicles when they are on the side of the road on a call and I love the fact that some states punish drivers for not slowing down or moving to the furthest lane

It's common courtesy. Far too many times there are greater damages when people do not notice activity on the road way.

on the other hand if Smokey sittin there just maintain speed don't slam on the brakes in front of a line of cars simply travelling the legal speed

So many things to rant about. Especially other drivers but, I'll share someone else's rant
Back in '94, I brought a boat down the rivers from Chicago to Ft. Lauderdale by way of the Tenn-Tomm waterway. I had a full time deckhand named Mike and hired another guy, Pat, to help on the trip. Things were hunky-dory when we left Chicago but, by the time we got to Mobile, I could see there was some tension between Mike and Pat. Mike assured me things were okay. After a two day lay-over in St. Pete, we stopped for the night in Key West. We all split up and did the "Duvall st. crawl." When I got back to the boat, Mike was waiting on Pat with a pistol! After I talked him to giving up the gun, I asked what his problem was with Pat and he gave me this classic answer, "I don't know! He just tweaks my dick nerve!"
Never did find out exactly what that meant but, I think it's a great rant!

I wish my wife could resist eating mine especially AFTER she says, in that whiny voice people use to sound funny, "you just get yourself something. I'm not really hungry..." YEAH RIGHT! I could rant all day on that because you know I don't share food! Also I love the thought of darcrav eating old fries in her car. LOL.

Wasn't going to say anything. But it's late, and I need to talk.

Went into work Wednesday with no issues around 2 pm. Around 2:30, I started having a pretty intense pain in my upper abdomen. Now, this isn't my first time. I had a significant gall attack in December. But with the absence of stones, they couldn't exactly say why it happened. This pain was familiar.

I have an antispasmotic medication for if I get an attack. Never needed it. After 10 minutes of pain, I'm seriously considering leaving work to go take one and lie down. Good thing I didn't...

I told a coworker I was feeling a little light headed. He said "Yeah, you look kinda pale."

That's the last thing I remember.

I woke up with my boss anchoring my head and telling me not to move. The ambulance is on its way. Apparently I blacked out and SLAMMED the back of my head off the concrete floor. Opening a 6 inch gash. They say I was out cold 30-60 seconds. I do remember dreaming. The odd thing was, my stomach didn't hurt anymore. Go figure. So here comes the ambulance. Collar on, back brace, strapped in tight like a sardine in a can and off we go.

Spent the next 7 hours in the ER, first for tests on my head and spine, then for tests on my abdomen. Of course, they can't find an obvious cause. Good news is, my head and spine is ok (although a concussion is probably likely). They believe it was another gall attack and the pain triggered a response that caused me to pass out. More doctors and tests on Friday. They sent me home.

So I've spent the rest of the time with a throbbing head. The staples closing that gash are a special irritant. Headaches. I have to be very careful not to make sudden movements or the room starts spinning. And now I'm burning the hell up with a fever. All of this in the middle of a nasty snowstorm. (Which I can't do anything about since I'm not allowed to exert myself).

I tried to sleep, but 2 covers was too many. I was burning up. So now I'm up for a bit to cool down (although maybe that's a good sign).

The good news is I'm alert. Coherent. My memory is fine except for the obvious: can't recall blacking out. I know where I am. Who I am. And that 2+2=potato. ;)

(Sooooooo regret not using the "Batman" thing when I first came to. Took me a few seconds to gather my wits.)

Dang that's awful Ray! I knew you'd been having some issues here for the last little while but I didn't know it was still going on. At least you weren't driving or something when that happened!

Dang, Ray. Sorry to hear that. "I'm Batman" would have been epic, or "take me to your leader!".

Thanks guys. Doc said I have to take a week off work today. The staples have to stay in another week. As for the abdominal issues, more tests and specialists now.

Ready to just tell them "take it out already."

    Sorry to hear that, Ray.
Hope things get better for you soon, and they figure out the cause.
Our health care system deserves it`s whole own thread about rants for what is wrong with it.
Wishing you luck, navigating though it.

    Quick update:

The swelling has gone down. Not completely, but a good deal. The wound is still seeping. Ugh. I think the worst of the concussion is over. No more headaches (the impact site hurts of course, but not my whole head anymore), I have more energy and my appetite has come back.

In other news, my baby girl. My youngest. (She's a twin, but she was born last by a minute. And she was always the daintiest of the 3 girls). She's currently on a plane bound for Atlanta. From there, she gets on a plane to San Antonio. When she lands there, she gets on a bus...

And her career in the USAF begins. It's an odd sensation. As a Dad, being both worried about her and proud of her at the same time. But she set her mind on this almost 2 years ago and has clenched onto the idea like a pitbull. All I could do after a year of trying to direct her to going to college instead is support her. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. She was born into the Air Force life. Her Mom and Dad both served. Whatever her reasons, she's really excited to go. This will make her the 5th generation of my family to serve in the U.S. military. But if 10 years ago, you told me one would go, I would have guessed my oldest. Not the princess. :)

Glad to hear the head is healing up. Congrats on your baby going into the AF. That's got to be bittersweet.
