The BEER thread.

Looks yummy... Like a root beer float.

A buddy of mine that is looking to start or buy a small brewery just started a batch of black IPA today.

 

Especially when they say "There will be a job for you if you're interested".

 

I tried several beers over the holidays-- some of my faves were Wells Bannana Bread, Smithwicks, Stella artois, and Guinness Black Lager. Some I didn't really care for were Harp, Dos Equis Special Lager, or Sam Adams Winter Lager. Anyways, I have a question: has anyone tried the new Bud Black Crown?

 

Not a chance in hell I will drink that swill. I saw their press release for it their line of thinking is people want higher abv beer. Sorry, but most people want beer that tastes good and bud doesn't fit that bill.

 

Just another marketing spin (like Bud Platinum) from a company that makes horrible "beer".

 

I saw their TV commercial during the Super Bowl, got me wondering. I never cared much for Bud myself.

 

I drank the eventual "winner", while it was still just identified by "batch number".
My Aunt had bought a 12 pack of the "new,experimental beers", that Budweiser was marketing as a promotion, and letting the consumers vote on their favorite...
There were 3 or 4 different "batch numbers", of each brew, with 3 or 4 bottles of each, and, you could log online to vote for your favorite.
That`s kinda been her "thing", the last few Christmases, that I have gone over there... She will buy a variety pack of whatever beer, for me, and, "taste" a shot of each...
Yeah, I agree... none of the different varieties were signifigantly better, or, different, than their basic Budweiser varieties...
Personally, I would vote for plain old Yuengling, over any of those, but maybe, that`s because it`s still a newcomer to the beer market here, in OHIO, as opposed to the Budweiser, and Busch Lite, and whatever else, I`ve been drinking all my life...
Basically, I think it was just a great big marketing campaign, to get drinkers to buy more of their beer, with a chance to "vote" on the "best", rather than actually brewing a better beer...
Then again... I`ve often been told I`m "cynical"...
I prefer the term "realistic"...
Anyhow, I am very thankful to this thread, and all of it`s contributors, for inspiring me to expand my beer pallette...
Finally got to try a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale, and it was pretty tasty!
Not necessarily worth the price, IMHO... But still, pretty Damned Good!
I`m lovin` the different Stouts I`ve been trying, and I have started to mix in a lotta Guinesses, and random, craft brews, with my daily intake, of cheap, mass produced beers...
So, I have to thank my fellow Steeler Fans, for opening my eyes to the "beer rennacauinsse"(however you spell it), that is going on right now, because, it is amazing, and it`s going on, at plenty of the little bar and grilles, here in my hometown! YAY!!!(Not to mention what the local grocery stores are carrying now, that they wouldn`t have just a couple years ago..)

Hitting the shelves this week is Stone's Enjoy By 04/1/13 IPA. If you're a hophead you might want to grab one or two.

 

I LOVE Bourbon County Brand Stout. I had to pay out the wazoo for it($15 per bottle in a bar), but it was worth every penny.

 

i justified it by calling it a Christmas present to myself.

 

If for some reason you don't like it send it my way. I can send you some locals in a trade.

 

That description is a solid start. It's definitely a big beer and meant to be savored.

 

Founders Kentucky breakfast stout just hot the shelves here. While goose island is the bourbon barrel aged standard kbs is no slouch. Grab some while you can

 

Get to know someone at your favorite craft beer store is the best advice I can give when it comes to the stupid lists. I've developed a pretty good relationship with both the owner and manager of my favorite local store and they take good care of me. Every time a limited release comes out they put aside some for being a loyal customer. In return I pimp them out on Beer advocate, Rate Beer etc whenever possible.
