My latest score is He'brew Jewbelation Sweet 16 Anniversary Ale. It's brewed with 16malts, 16 hops and comes in at 16% ABV. There's a lot going in this one and the booze is pretty relentless. It will be interesting to see how it ages after a year or two.

I have a few Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPAs from '07 a few DFH World Wide Stouts from '08 and a case of 120 Minute IPA from October 2011 down the basement.

    They age very, very well.

HolY Crap!!! Am I reading that right??? 16% ABV?!?... Does that mean Alcohol By Volume?
I know some brewers have been pushing that envelope, but, is that still technically "beer"?
I could be wrong, but I don`t think they are allowed to sell anything with that percentage of alcohol, labeled as "beer", in Ohio.
It would be something I would have to find in my State Liquor Store, instead of just the drive thru...
If I am right, not sure... And I`m not sure I could wait to "age" a bottle of beer, but then again, I am a novice at this...
I find it funny, that while I am typing this... The song, "Stay Frosty", off the new(ish) Van Halen album was playing...
On the internet radio from San Fran... HaHaHa...
    Funny timing, tho..
Edit... Actually, I kinda recall seeing a special on the Discovery Channel where brewers were pushin like 25% alcohol. Mighta been SAm Adams, can`t recall... But I`m pretty sure it was one of the nation wide brewers, and they were talkin like 25% Alcohol by Volume...
That`s just crazy... Hell yeah, I wanna taste it, but, I have a hard time believing that`s just "beer".. Hahaha..
And don`t expect me to put in my basement for a year or more, and let it "age"... I`m 40 years old... I ain`t got time for that.. I might not be here when I wanna drink it... LOL...
Really Scared to ask price...I guess if you gotta ask, ya can`t afford it...

Yes that is 16% alcohol by volume and it's damn tasty. Some beers cellar very well, the flavors blend and mellow a bit. If I remember correctly it was $7.99 for a 22 ounce bomber and $8.99 for a 32 ounce growler.

The 120 Minute IPA I have at home is 18%... and the World Side stout is 21%. The beers typically sell for $9-10 per 12 oz. bottle but I got a case of the 120 Minute for $200.

There are a few more extreme beers on the market like Sam Adams Utopia which is 29%. There is also a beer called Nuclear Tactical Penguin by Brew Dog which is 32% at around $50 per 12 oz. bottle. Some people say those beers are too much but you don't drink them like beer, you drink them like scotch or congnac.

I'll need to get my hands on this, even at the $8.50 per bottle price. I'm a tad disappointed at their first style. I'd rather have a "Winterfell Brown Ale" or "Take the Black" stout. But I'm sure those will come along.

That's because it isn't available yet. ;) Probably around March. They're going to do a whole series of beers based around Game of Thrones. That one is the first one.

Picked up a few stouts from the Iggle before xmas...
Breckenridge(From Denver), Dark Oatmeal Stout was pretty damn tasty.
Fort Collins Brewery(Also from Colorado), Chocolate Stout was sweeter, but good.
Troegenator double bock, from Hershey PA was pretty strong, and good.
And "Old Rasputin", a russian style imperial stout(curiously brewed in California USA), was very good, also.
Aside from those, I got a 12 pack of different Guinness beers for x-mas, that had the foriegn extra stout(which I already knew I loved), A "Guinness Black Lager", that I liked the taste of, and the original Guinness, and a Guinness x-mas ale, that I could have done without, if they woulda put more "Foreign", or "Black Lager": ones in the 12 pack... HaHaHa...
Also, my girl got me a 9 pack of "beers of the world", that had completly random offerings from all kindsa places...
So far, my favorite was a "buckeye" sumthin or other ale, that was brewed in Columbus, OH...
Tried a few others from it, An "Old speckled Hen" from England...YUK!...Sumthin from Vietnam... YUK... A name a couldn`t pronounce, from the Netherlands, that wasn`t bad, for a light beer, a "Henninger", from Germany, that I expected to be better, but mostly tastes like a Bud Light, and a "chili beer", I forget from where, that was actually way better than I expected.
Was kinda scared to try that one. It actually had a chili pepper in the bottle, and after taking a drink, you could taste the spice, and heat, like you had just eaten a spoonful of chili, but, the drink itself, wasn`t spicy. Not like drinking hot sauce, or anything.
It was kinda weird...But I actually liked it. Didn`t think I would.
Still couldn`t see myself drinking more than a bottle at a time, or drinking them on a regular basis, but I`m glad I tried it.
There are still a few in that pack to try....
Gonna go back to the Guinness for now.... They were all better than anything in the "beers of the world" so far... Hahaha.
    Happy Holidays, all...

Just cracked open a beer from my exchange. Flying Fish Abbey Dubbel, a Belgian-style brown ale.

It was in the basement (fairly cold) and I didn't want to wait for it to chill it so I'm drinking it at 59 degrees and I can tell you this... Chabby likey. The bottle says hints of caramel, raisins, plum and almond and I'd say that is an accurate description of the taste. I think it is a little on the sweet-side but not enough to turn me off of it.

7.2% to boot. I see myself drinking this beer in the future.

Pass. Rouge is trying some really strange stuff and it's not my cup of tea... err... beer.

I tried their Maple Bacon Ale and it was the worst thing I have ever tatsed in my life. The store ordered 5 cases of it and after the owner tasted it, he called them to see if they would take 4 cases back.

Strange is one way to put it. Have you seen the article about their beard yeast beer? Apparently they combed the brewmaster's beard and found yeast, cultivated it and are now using it to brew a beer. I don't have a weak stomach by any means, but that just makes me bleh.

On much better note for those of you that get Bell's distributed to your area Hopslam is now hitting shelves. Act fast because this one goes quick!

Did you hear about the chicha beer that Dogfish made? Their employees chewed up corn to convert the starches into fermentable sugars and then they spit the corn out and used it to brew the beer.

Turned a lot of people off but it's boiled for an hour in the brewing process so it was sterile. I would have tried it but they only sold it in their restaurant due to the limited quantity they could make.

I saw that on their short lived tv show! They had everyone on the staff chewing corn and spitting it into cups. It wasn't available the one time I went to DFH Brewery. There were so many things to try there that I could have easily passed on the chicha. While there I drank their World Wide Stout, 75 minute cask, Chickory Stout, DFH Ale, samples of one or two others and grabbed a cellared 120 Minute Ale to go.

i have a friend who works there and she said she got sick and tired of chewing corn!

I have a few WWSs down the basement. That was their first high octane beer that I had and fell in love with it. 75 Minute may be my favorite DFH.

I don't know if I could try the corn spit brew or not. :hmmm:

How is the Chickory Stout? I almost picked up a pack of that last week, but something else piqued my interest.

One of my bottles will not make it past midnight.

DFH *****es Brew - big bottle -9%
DFH Namaste - big bottle -5%
Hadrywood Park Reserve Series - Farmhouse Pumpkin - big bottle - 8.5%

Leaning towards the Namaste since I haven't had it in quite a while.

Tonight I'm drinking a homebrew Vanilla Milk Stout. It's green, and I should have let it sit another couple weeks, but it's pretty damn tasty nonetheless.
