No Ben, No Troy, and no live tackling, and Ryan Shazier banged knees with a teammate and spent the last half hour with ice on his knee. It poured down rain for 10 minutes in the middle of practice, but another Great Day at Beautiful St. Vincents!

Defensive M.V.P. for the day: Arthur Moats...He was everywhere!:applaud:
Offensive M.V. P. for the day: Tie, A.B, and Dri.

Wake up call of the day: Mike Adams...False started 2 plays in a row during Red Zone Drills.

Wait till you see the size of Daniel McCullers!
During special teams, Dri returned punts and Danny Coale and Kashif Moore shared kick off duties.

Good picks by Antwon Blake, (Red zone) and Brice McCain (7 on 7).

By the way, Love the new outside deck at Sharky's!

He's a lock! ST stud (we always have a couple, no matter what anyone says) and the #4 CB. Lake loves him.

He was close to being a lock before camp even started. Now that he's been playing well, his spot is definitely safe.

I keep telling everyone that Blake and McCain are the guys that DL and Lake were alluding to as to why they didn't draft CB higher when they said that maybe they have guys here they already like. Lake admitted as much.

I know Brice was a FA signing but I doubt he makes the 53. I'm not a fan of Brice!

No idea if he makes it. Hasn't been good so far, but he's crazy fast. Maybe he could be a good STer and decent depth. Sort of seeing him as the new DVD. I'm excited to see him in a game. Then again, I'm excited to see everyone.

Gays game improved quite a bit under Lake, he must see something in McCain.

You sound real sure of it. How many cb will we keep and who will they be? I figure 5 safeties and I don't see more than 10 DB's total.

McCullers is HUGE! I was at camp on Sunday. It absolutely monsooned! My future son in law was the only one to get an autograph from JJ (he was icing what looked like to be a groin injury) but hobbled over and signed his hat (and later tweeted him about it).

I liked what I saw from the OL and the receivers. I wanted to get a look a Shazier but the sky opened up when he was down at my end and I was too busy trying to fit 10 people under three umbrellas to watch him. He got hurt while I was making a trip to the car. I saw him later hobbling around.

As mentioned, Troy and Ben did not suit up. I kind of thought JJ was getting pushed around. Worrilds looked good. Bell looked decent. I like Blount and Archer is FAST. :smiley1:

Pretty sure I read another one too where Lake admitted they were the reason they didn't draft a CB higher but as you can see, they like what they have in Blake and McCain, speed and toughness. If Lake can do for them what he did for Gay, they will turn out fine.

It's hard for fans to get excited over two 5'9 CBs who got cut by their former teams, I see Blake being the 4th CB he's supposed to be really fast.

Theres a lot of us who really don't care about the whole height thing. As you said, he's really fast, which is probably more important then height, not every ball is a jump ball.

Blake looked good yesterday. Actually, Ike had some nice plays too. I would much rather have the CB get "outjumped" then watch the other team's receiver blow by them.

I actually had a really hard time locating him. Now, that could be because he had his jersey rolled up and I couldnt see his number or that he just didnt stand out  I actually thought the OL looked really good. Jarvis (and I really like him) made me a little nervous. I felt like the other LB's were trying to counsel him because it looked to me like he was getting beat by the TE's every time. Not sure why - technique maybe? I think I saw him get the upper hand one time. Hope I am wrong. Worrilds looked great!

First and foremost, you better be able to tackle if your going to play cb for the PGH Steelers. If these guys can tackle and play physical football they may have a chance.I guess we shall see?

Blast, you didn't answer my question. I read your link and have read similar statements. The thing is they only kept them from drafting a cb in the top round but they aren't promised a spot. I think Blake & Brice May be battling for the same spot.

Blake's not battling anybody. #4 is his. Call it a hunch, but I think he's closer to battling Gay than he is McCain.

Brice is probably battling for a spot. I see his odds at 50/50 right now. They like Richardson (he's no Hawthorne) and we have a LOT of safeties, including one that can play corner in a pinch.

Of course, this is all useless pie-hole flapping until we see some games.

I bet Heath Miller and Matt Spaeth have a thing or two to do with it. A lot of the other OLBs (besides Worilds) are going against guys who are scrubs in comparison to the guys Jarvis faces.

He was fine in run support last year. I'm not worried about that. I want to see him rush the passer.

Gay is locked in. He knows this defense up & down and if Ike struggles as he did last year it'll be Allen & Gay on the corners.

I currently have my DB locks as Ike, Allen, Gay, Troy, Mitchell, Shamarko. My virtual locks are Wil Allen & Blake. My Battling DB's are Golden, Dangerfield, Brice & Shaq. I'm predicting 10 DB's make it which means 2 of the last 4 are in. In today's NFL offensive onslaught we may keep 11 depending on Position flexibility & ST play.

As you say, Preseason WILL sort this out and I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note: we are so deep at ILB we may be forced to keep more than normal which means another position may be forced to cut an otherwise roster spot.

What was the question? How many DB's they keep? Have no idea at the moment, would have to look at the whole 53 and break it down. I just think those two will be a part of it. It wasn't just the 1st they didn't draft one, they waited until the 5th. Obviously if McCain stinks out the joint in preseason, he won't make it but I haven't heard that to be the case so far, even had a redzone INT the other day.

Really? The question was how many CBs are we going to keep and who will they be? I only asked because you're sure they'll keep Brice and Blake and I can't see that as I feel there isn't enough room for both. I get you need to look at the whole 53, I figured you had done that already.

I also feel Brice has not had a good enough camp to standout and say I'm better than I was when I was with Houston and I'm good enough for you to risk losing Shaq who IS showing promise. When you consider Golden & Shark can play some CB too then it puts Brice in a position he better shine bright come preseason.
