As I have posted earlier, I really think the success of the Steelers' season will depend upon their ability to run the football and to stop the run. I am glad that the last two games have shown an improved running game, but I still have concern about the run defense. We gave up 3.8 ypc against Cincy and 4.1 vs Washington.

Teams like NE, Houston, and Baltimore have good running offenses combined with decent to very good passing offenses. The Steelers only seem to be able to stop the run well when they are significantly committed (via play calling...using safety help, etc.) to do so (unlike just a few years ago when the Steelers could play in their nickel package and still stuff the run). I could see the Steelers struggling mightily when/if they face teams that are very balanced offensively, like those mentioned above or like Denver who was able to seal a victory over the Steelers due to Pittsburgh's inability to stop the run late in the game.

    Anyone else concerned?

    Go Steelers!

i don't think it's just the run either. 10 drops by washington. 4 of those we forced. 4 of those were drive sustaining and two of those were TD's. it sure could have been a whole different game. we got hit with that drop syndrome last week and on one today. i thought we did a pretty decent job today against the run. rarely will we face running qb's like RG3. we did a decent job against vick too.

we still need some players healthy and some more playmakers added to this defense, but some guys are making progress.

Our pass defence downright scares me. I'm less worried about our run defence.

I think Washington was the #1 rushing offense coming into this game...

It was a rookie QB with a 70% completion rate going into the game.

Since the bye week, we are 3-1 and today was the most complete solid performance on both sides of the ball.

I was really tough on our D the first part of the season, but I have seen a lot of improvement the past two games. I though they played pretty well today.

Did we not have drops? I know Sanders dropped one that would have kept the drive going. And last week we had more drops than I'd like to remember, but we still won! Drops happen, I'm not going to give the game back to the Skins because they couldn't hold onto the ball. Enjoy the win people and stop picking everything apart!

Exactly, people are only looking at the drops the skins had, what about the drop you mentioned with Sanders? What about the one Wallace dropped that would have been a first down? What about the TD that was called back? I'm with you, I'm not giving anything back to the Redskins, we kicked their ass today.

Then stop watching them and find a team that is lights out at every aspect of the game.

Don't underestimate the Giants, they destroyed the Niners, plus division games are often close and Dallas has talent too, just can't put it together. Giants is a huge test for us, don't kid yourself.

Probably best not to visit the board if you can't handle reading someone voice their concerns, or be critical of the team's shortcomings and missed opportunities. Civilized discourse...

Wow, that's pretty uncalled for. Why would any true Steeler fan ever stop watching them and instead follow another team? I can enjoy the win while at the same time acknowledging that we have areas of concern. The fact that we won convincingly doesn't take away from our problems whatsoever

The two really have nothing to do with each other. If you didn't want to read this stuff, why did you come into this thread?

Come on TTF... this team is perfect, they never do anything wrong and the only reason they lose is because Goodell and the refs are against us!

Yep. There are always going to be "concerns" with the team. I haven't seen a team play perfectly every week. It's better to enjoy the wins and save the concerns for the people who actually get paid to do the job.
