How long is Matt Canada contract?

So I assume Canada received a three-year deal, with an obvious pay raise, once promoted from QBs Coach to OC for the start of the 2021 season. Meaning, his extension runs through the 2023 season. For most teams, that'd be inconsequential.Nov 28, 2022

 

Steve Smith's loudmouth rant is only right in that he justifies the 'fire Canada" angle.

The Bad News: Canada does have another year on his contract.
More Bad News: The Offense has shown improvement.

I personally hope that they move on.

 

I thought Canada’s contract expired at the end of this season?

 

I am told and had read, 'end of 2023.'

There isn't much information, so that is what I can only assume to be correct.

 

I couldn’t find anything definitive. Staff below coordinator usually get 2-year contracts; coordinators 3-year. He was promoted, so it’s unclear whether they kept his original term (would end this season), extended it a year (through 2023), or replaced it with a new 3-year agreement (would run through 2024).

 

I hope this is true!

love ya man. just poking a lot. FRUSTRATED as a fan for many years - with Tomlin and Rooney, and yes, even with Ben and his sloppiness for years. We should have won more from 2010 - 2020, it was an underachieving decade. But SSmith is right about Canada, he does not belong in the NFL.

 

The only real improvement has been with the running game. I attribute that to a combination of the line gelling with more reps and Najee running like an MFer after he got benched temporarily. The play calling hasn't improved much at all and the points still aren't there. With the talent and the fact young players usually get better as they play more games, it appears to me, the OC is holding this group back from developing. Another year of Canada will be disastrous for these young players' careers.

 

I don't disagree.
I have heard whispers of dissatisfaction with Canada within the Steelers Org.
But I can tell you that will never be confirmed until it actually happens. They just don't work like that.
