Genuinely thought he would be staying to play out his last year and I was looking forward to seeing what the offence could look like with GP and DKM on the same field.

Presumably there has been negotiations and dialogue going on behind the scenes and the team have decided that addition by subtraction is their best option but you have to question why they didn’t get this done ahead of the draft. It’s going to be hard to replace him now.

TBH I was pumped for season with Rodgers (maybe) having two great receivers. This kind of sucks balls.

Pickens is a head case and a problem child. TJ just does his job and goes about it quietly. I feel sorry for TJ but George needed to go sooner or later. Sucks we won’t get much for him though.

Don't you think they tried to trade him during the draft? Of course they did. He's not worth what some people here seem to think he is. A 3rd rounder is all they're getting because no one else wants him for more than that. I'd be happy to get rid of him for a 3rd and something like a 5th or 6th.

I've said it before and I'm starting to believe it. Rooney had lunch with Robert Nutting (owns Pirates) and found out how to fleece the fans and make money.

I'm more concerned about this year, screw next year. Pickens might have wanted to stay if they had a good year in 2025.
Yeah, I had a feeling they were going to do something stupid like this. Kiss Rodgers good-bye.

FWIW regarding the timing, The Athletic reported that the trade was in the works ahead of the draft, but the Cowboys were offering a lower draft pick, Steelers said no.

Sounds like the Cowboys wanted to see how the draft fell for them, and when they didn't land a receiver they liked, upped their offer.

Well 'Omar the brain' just said that Roman friggin Wilson is the expected replacement.
Hmm, injured ankle during 1st padded practice, came back week 6, played 5 snaps, no catches, 15 days later injured hamstring... out for the season.
He was unspectacular in training camp last year...

His college career is somewhat noteworthy. JJ McCarthy found him for 12 TD's.
Maybe 'The Brain' has a crystal ball.
In my opinion, we needed a #2 and #3. I did have hopes for Roman to secure that #3 spot.
I dunno, he hasn't earned squat but he has a lot on him now.
At best, this is a huge gamble. Maybe inside that giant egg head there really is a brain to match.

So..no one to throw the ball and now, when we finally get it so that George isn't triple teamed on every down, we send him to the Cowboys for a THIRD round pick. I am finding it hard to believe that DK Metcalf signed with the Steelers knowing that Mason Rudolph would be throwing him the ball. What am I missing here?

This is a huge failure by Khan. There is no other way to look at it. Maybe you could justify doing this for a second-rounder, but a three? Hell no.

They might need to consider cleaning house of the entire front office. This is that bad.

I haven’t read the other post on this thread. But, this is actually good. They can move up next year in the draft. They can trade their first round pick, and a 3rd round pick in 2027 to move up and draft a QB. I believe this will give them 2-3rd round picks next year, and 2- 3rd round picks in 2027 should they not trade them.

The Steelers didn't have to take it. They let the Cowboys rob them. I'm utterly disgusted with Khan right now.

I do agree with you on this point. A 3rd round pick is terrible.

The only way we get a good QB is to stink one year. We can’t even get washed up Aaron Rodgers to sign with us.

Nice, no #2 again this year.. oh, and no real starting QB either.. this franchise is falling apart post Ben. The acceptance of mediocrity is sickening.

There is dumping plain and simple and then there is dumping after. In context this is like divorcing Amber Heard. You absolutely want to get away from her crazy ass but you want to sleep with her first then dump her. Steelers fans wanted Pickens gone but not before they got the milk for free.

Geez how many tortured metaphors can I get in a single post.

    Oh well.

    For a 3rd rounder in 2026 and 5th in 2027 and we send a 7th in 2027 per 93.7 the Fan.

    Should have been a 2nd.

Sounds like a tipping point came and they baled.

I believe we would have gotten a 3rd round comp pick for him if he played out the season.

Another head case bites the dust

What team in their right mind is going to give a 2rd pick for this knucklehead? Are you serious? Be thankful we got a 3 rd pick, that was very gracious.
The guy isn’t a top 30 wr. Oh but he has a high ceiling and is athletic. This saying has gotten stale.
Pickens was like this at Ga, I am sure it trickles all the way back to pee wee ball. Good luck to him.

I think they have to kick the tires on FA WRs to add depth to the room.

    Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen?

Seriously, with all the mental baggage and lack of productivity, what do you really expect we would get for him?
Claypool had better numbers than him. So, a third rd was very generous.

If you were going to trade him, at least do it during the trade deadline to a WR needy team who is willing to overpay because their star is hurt or they want to make a push for the playoffs.

The worst thing about this trade is it will more than likely be a late 3rd round pick As I can't see Dallas having a bad year. 1 step forward and 3 steps back with a move like this. Having two #1 receivers was going to open up the run game and keep defenses honest and they weren't always going to be double covered because the other was going to be opposite.

I also said this before, the trade for Metcalf was desperate and they traded for him and gave him the amount of money that they did and didn't even have a QB in place. Then they go low ball Fields, who was very serviceable, knew the system, and offered a different dynamic as far as athletic ability to keep the chains moving. Now they are being strung along by Aaron Rodgers.
