He was going to be playing for his next contract, so no, he wasn't going to hold out all season.

Please provide evidence of how Pickens' behavior has affected other players on the team.

have you played team sports? a bad apple spoils the bunch. i get tired of explaining to some of you.

he is a cancer, a TEAM DISTRACTION, for Tomlin, for coaches - disciplinary action, all his SH*%. He takes plays off, single handedly lost the CINCY game last Dec, was he STONED out of his mind (YES, he was.....)

he is a child - good RIDDANCE to him

Oh come on. You're not an ignorant person. Pickens upset the apple cart many times. When you need 'babysitters' on the sideline, cuddling in the locker room and teammates having to answer media questions regarding his behavior it obviously took it's toll on the team and other players.

Is it advantageous to have #88 baby talking Pickens on the sideline instead of being focused and thinking about the next series?

In Dallas, his behavior will eventually turn for the negative. People don't change.

GP was something like 50th in receiving last year

    That is borderline #3 receiver

If this trend continues he’ll be a one year rental for Dallas.

Also, we get the pick a year earlier, and even if Dallas won the SB, the pick would be higher than a comp pick. If Dak sucks or gets hurt(50/50 chance) then it could be a lot higher.

I'm sure it wasn't a secret that GP is a pain in the ass, that's surely why they didn't get more. It's very low risk. If teams don't care for him, they can let him walk and probably get a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick back.

I just have to wonder what happened to seal the deal. You would think that if the decision had been made to take whatever they could get just to get him out the door, why didn't they draft a guy. Had some really good options even in the 4th.

Wow if Dak chokes this season, that should end his run as a Cowboy.

He should be able to throw the ball all over the field.
They have a Strong WR group.

It's 90% over a three-year period. They're fine. They always hold $10M as an in-season buffer. Past that they're keeping $10M aside for Rodgers, leaving about $15M they could use to add talent.

Washington made those moves after they felt Daniels had proven himself as the guy to build around. If teams could just go out and get a franchise QB, everybody would have one. It's not a lack of understanding timelines.

    Not quite so.
That first year Quinn and Adams were hamstrung... only so much they could do. So they build a plan and gave up some resources.
Year 2 they had a ton of cap room, a bounty of picks... and great position.
They solved the QB issue just by luck of the draw.
But more importantly, they build a foundation for him to prosper.

In addition, that staff got worked over.
    Kingsbury was a HUGE addition,

I would not try to match Pinky and The Brain up to Adams.... Adams is light years better than they are.

What do you think Khan has been doing? Assuming your Pinky and the Brain refers to Tomlin/Khan, look at how much better the drafts appear in the last three years compared to the previous four, when it was Tomlin/Colbert.

It hasn't been perfect by any means - I've had my complaints. But you also don't bounce back from four poor drafts while flipping out some malcontents on the quick and easy.

I personally think they are weak. I do not think they are terrible.
But they've failed in obvious situations. Just looking at last seasons WR debacle.
The QB thing... I mean as Stephen A points out, there's some frigging good QB's in the AFC, even in our division.
While I ride them mercilessly, and deservedly so.... again, they aren't horrible.

And, they are nowhere in Peters class....

I personally have not witnessed Pickens behavior in person, but seen it over and over on tv during games.
I understand you think all media is fake, but way way too many stories are coming out. Not only from media but other players. Hell Steve Smith Jr called this months ago.
Pickens antics outweighed his talents. Come on man, weren’t you a teacher?

I know i used the word trash describing Pickens, which is wrong, he is talented, but his behavior outweighs his talent.
Dallas is going to find out soon. Unless Pickens gets hit with a bolt of lightning from God, a zebra never ever changes its stripes.
Tomlin was warned about all the red flags before he drafted him at 52.
Once again, Tomlin thought he could get him to change to the Steelers culture when in fact, Pickens behavior has become the Steelers culture recently.
