It`s obvious we are in full rebuild mode and stacking draft capital. Some teams will approach us and make offers, like stripping a car for parts.

If Khan is willing to trade Watt, better to wait for an offer rather than looking desperate shopping him around.

Your right I shouldn’t have thanked you for anything. I don’t know you and you don’t know me. No need to get personal. I am perplexed though. I always thought people that protected this nation weren’t so easily given to emotional reactions in frivolous banter. Your awfully thin skinned. I was simply calling you out for judging my original post which turned out to have validity. You simply could have admitted your ignorance in all of this but your filled with too much pride.

I am thinking that the Rodgers deal fell thru, leaving the Steelers with the QB room we currently have. That is leading to moves to get us to Manning next year.

How do you know how JJ or JC would hav performed in our offense over the years. JC has shown on more than one occasion his immaturity. Many of the very talented receivers im this league would not act appropriately if they were on this unproductive and incompetent offensive system. GP is a top five talent in this league in my mind. This was a very bad deal by the Steelers. Again it speaks more to Tomlins lack of coaching than it does Pickens abilities in my mind. I view this as us letting Tomlin off scott free and not holding Tomlin accountable. This turning away good talent time and time again because we mismanage these guys has got to stop. If you can’t manage these kind of guys then recognize that you can’t and either get a coach in here that can or draft inferior talent that will be yes men just like we do with the coaches that we hire.

First of all its highly unlikely Manning will even come out next year. Secondly there are two QB needy teams that will probably already be ahead of us in the draft (maybe not now) who both have two first round picks. They have more draft capital to get the number one pick next year if Manning were to happen to even come out. So we are defiantly not getting the number one spot next short of trading away both Watt and Minkah this year to stock up on additional draft picks for next year which in fact is probably the best idea because why not at this point. Throw in Tomlin too for a bucket of fries.

Zeise is the biggest clown there is. I don’t even know what he does, is he even a beat writer or just a poor mans Madden.

    He’s definitely a clown though.

I honestly do not have any idea what that is supposed to mean. This year the Mavs made what looked like a ridicules to the Lakers, Luka for an aging guy and a future (mostly worthless 1st round pick). Fan reaction was hostile, and in revenue they have already paid for it. On the other side was giving a guaranteed 1/3 billion contract for a guy who could be the best, was injury prone and was not willing to seriously stay in shape. He very well could be the Laker's premiere player for a decade, or just a guy who looks and plays well, but is always on the fringe of greatness.

This is what the Steelers had to decide on, the great and extraordinary play we saw with GP is top notch, the attitude and lackadaisical play was also very apparent. Would an investment of 150 million (with a huge guarantee) change the latter? It's one thing to be a prima donna, lots of WR are, but when you are putting that much investment into an individual you have make sure of that investment, evidently they were not confident enough to set serious in the negotiations.

I do not get the surprise from fans, he was on the trade block so why the surprise when it came?

Ever since the Steelers ignored the QB position for most of the draft, I felt that the plan is to draft a franchise QB in front of the home crowd in 2026. I know that the Steelers are not none for tanking, but it would not surprise me if it happens this season, at least to some extent, and then use picks to move up if necessary.

I'm a pickens fan obviously. But why trade for meta, who has more cancer issues than pickens and than trade a lesser cancer?

(Also I'm fine with meta. And I'm sure I'll get hated when I start standing up for him)

No fan is going to convince me this team is wanting to get away from cancer players.

I don’t think that is true. If that were the case why would we have given up a second round draft for Metcalf and paid him 150 million dollars? I think what really happened is they were trying to go all in this year and thought they could get Rodgers. They traded for Metcalf without giving Pickens the courtesy of talking to him about it and see how he feels. The trade not only blew up in their face as their relationship with Pickens goes but it also pissed off Watt who has been a loyal Steeler citizen who wants to be compensated comes orate with his peer Miles Garrett and now he sees someone from another team come in and eat into his potential earnings.

I would be fine with them going out and signing a player like Metcalf if you had a coach who manages the team in a way that commands respect from an authoritative level (like Bellicheck was with the Patriots players) but Tomlin acts more like their peer so when they go out and sign a Metcalf a guy like Pickens takes it personal almost like a rejection from Tomlin who he expects to have his back or at least give him the courtesy of a heads up because he views his coach like a peer. I mean Tomlin has the players over to his house for the holidays etc. Thats great in developing a relationship with these guys but when you get that close to them and you act like their peer it is much harder to separate yourself and put the management hat on without it becoming personnel. I believe this is why Tomlin has such a hard time dealing with conflict with these guys.

Tomlin is like that teacher that everyone loves when they first meet him because he is like one of the guys. But once the class room becomes too dysfunctional the serious students get pissed because they can’t develop and they aren’t learning. The disruptive students get pissed because they thought everything was cool with their teacher until they went too far and it wasn’t. At that time a bigger authority has a to step in and usually the student (who went to far) gets expelled or removed from the class. A good principle would recognize that there seems to be a pattern in this classroom with this teacher that he can’t keep the classroom under control and students keep acting up. Perhaps we need to look into this teacher and hold him accountable. This is where Rooney is failing Tomlin. I don’t believe there is any accountable there to save Tomlin from himself.

In the right situation Pickens will flourish. Randy Moss was a malcontent until he got around a coach and a situation that wouldn’t put up with his crap. They also utilized his talents to the fullest. Something we never did with George.

Funny, I just got back from golfing with Nephew (a Steeler fan) and it was a wasted round. He was b!tching way more then me. He is right in saying the Steelers just can't suck. Pittsburgh has a terrible MLB and now NHL team. We need the Steelers to be competitive.

Sure Tomlin, Art, and Khan are the ones deciding to make a trade like this, but Khan is the one deciding what to give up in a trade.

This isn’t on Khan. This is on Tomlin and Rooney. Khan is not calling the shots from a Roster building perspective. Yes he is responsible for building the Roster but he is given directives by Tomlin in doing so and Tomlin and Rooney have the final say.

Ugh, this guy will circulate, eventually watch n see, until he’s in the hands of a solid QB who is licking his chops to get him. I haven’t seen talent like his in a life. Ugh…

Mash I get it, would have loved to see that combo for several years, they need to invest in the O, and having that WR combo could have been perfect for a low level MR and a rookie like Howard, and even more so if they could snatch a decent rookie QB next year. That said, GP has not shown the maturity and emotional stability to invest that much money into. I think Higgins shorted himself with his deal, but an investment like that with GP would have been gold, just not sure he or his agent would have been willing to go with it, or that was in the Steelers plans. IDK what the 'boys OL looks like, but GP with Lamb can make a B plus QB like Dak look A plus very quickly.

If Tomlin and Rooney are forcing the issue then Khan only has so much to work with. Khan can say this is the best I can get. Tomlin and Rooney can’t ultimately say No. But they didn’t.
