So because you're not winning the SB you give assets away for nothing?

What do you really think we will get for Watt at his age and durability?

You got a 3rd and moved into Cowboys 5th rd next year.
Steelers are definitely trying to rebuild through next years draft. Much better than picking up has beens or never was players for a year or two.

a 3rd and a 5th. Potentially, depending on how the comp picks fall... we could have as many as 12 picks. My guess will be 10 though.

I saw some comment on why we would blame Pinky and the Brain? Well because they are GM's.
And the obligatory, Tomlins fault. Which it is. Why is it that he cannot get the best of this type of player?
And yet again, if he has more freedom, why? What do our GM's do?

It's ok to say Pickens is a cancer or a problem, he sort of is.
The guy has talent and the way to shut those types up is to get them the ball.
Then there is the timing issue. WTF? You went into the draft thinking you might trade him. Dallas was right there, and Carolina snatched their WR.
I'm pretty sure they would have traded.
So Pinky and the Brain missed on a trade when maybe they could have replaced Pickens.

The only positive I can mine out of this stuff is they have a truckload of picks in 2026.
While I can give props to our drafting of values, making decent use of later rounds picks... I'm not sure if I trust them to pick elite players.
    So I don't know.

Lazard has played his entire career with Rodgers so there might be something to it.

The winner in all this is Pickens. He complains, talks selfish and gets rewarded.

Only thing in his defense is he was playing on a team with a poor QB situation, so he had less chance to pad numbers.

Now he can get paid and be a problem player elsewhere.

I think we could have done better before the draft trading him. Maybe something did happen like Pickens saying he is considering sitting out if we don`t get Rodgers (or some other threat that forced management`s hand). I can see why you would not make that threat public and just make a deal for what you can get.

At the end of the year we would have received a 3rd round compensatory draft pick when Pickens walked (end of 3rd round). Now we get a higher third round pick plus improve a sixth round pick to a fifth round pick. We got more draft value by making the trade than free agency.

Just remember the meltdowns this board had when other prima donna nutjob WRs were traded, most recently Dionte Johnson. Looking back that was a good trade. Johnson is on his fourth team in a year. Yes pickens made great catches under heavy coverage but did you ever stop to think why he wasn't ever open more and had to make all the catches under duress? He struggled to get open consistently and thats why he didn't have great YAC.

215 yds in 2024 (4th on steelers in YAC yards) for comparison J Chase had over 700YAC

Lazard is a #3 WR at best. We already have that in CAIII. Still need a #2. I think there will be a team looking to trade a good WR in August and Steelers will follow through.

What did you honestly think Pickens was worth? Good Grief. We are extremely fortunate with what we got.

I had faith last year when they did this with DJ.

Now they have to prove it to me that they have a plan.
