Watched the replay and first off have to remind myself it is the 1st preseason and in general you want your team to do better early than late. Steelers did so, Eagles not.

DeCastro not bad for 1st start. There were times he looked at Essex and the dim duo team of Gilbert n Adams like what in the hell happened?
    Gilbert - Embarrassing (period)
Adams - disappointing, there is time but IS there enough natural quickness?
Foster - Lethargic but he'll pick it up with each game. Me thinks.
Essex - How much have we invested? Be Gone!
Beachum - Essex with less talent. Should never see green and our line again outside the PS.

McLendon - Coaches were right. STARTER, limit his preseason outs. We'll need him.
Rainey - Explosive so get ready for the ride. Should see more rtns next game (thank all that is holy). Question remains, can he survive?
Ben and Brown - decent enough.

Biggest losers, Special teams coverage. Where's the spark? Where were the kids flying-trying to make the team??? Nuttin...

Running Game - W/O Mendy, a dud. Redman has the heart but does he have the gusto to carry our run game? (enter PWP)

Leftwich - Except for the arm, not a single part of his body can move independent of the other (he's a living statue of liberty play), but he's breathing so we'll use him. I would have drafted UofA's Nick Foles for our backup. He was @ the game too but in the wrong colors.
Better yet, Tebow would've fit. (stirring pot)

beachum had the first block to spring him, malecki had the next one and maze got in the way to help him get in the EZ. nice to see rainey running like this. he will have to be accounted for in teams gameplans against us.

I figured Malecki was probably the one he was thinking of out of those three, because... well, you know. Legursky doesn't so much look like Beachum or Maze. And I know you're proppin' up your boy Beachum, and I'm not giving up on him by any means. But he made that block by pushing the dude square in the back.

aww, a little rear side chip. if not the play was dead in the water. nfl linemen cheat every play not just this one. no call no foul. if a tree falls in the woods......... :)

adams also would have had one less sack or at least the half sack, if you watch the whole play. it's early in the game, he has his man blocked and the guy makes an inside move to the qb, that i may add already has people hanging on him from linemen on the right side, but he had his man controlled and is staying with him until one of our TE's come rolling over and leg whips adams. that's where adams loses his man for that sack. that's not adams' fault. i'm giving him that play he did what he was supposed to do. there are all types of things going on inside there that the casual fan doesn't see. all they know is that guy got off adams block and hit our qb.

DD had his moments. he was on the ground to much, but had a few very good plays also. he also had alot of help throughout. he has to sustain his blocks longer in a few cases. even off a double team, his guy got off his block to make a tackle.

bottom line neither was perfect, and they will work on them this week. i'm still glad we have them, and in the longrun, we will be a better team for having them. patience. neither one of them have seen guys this good with this speed and this many moves all at once. i'm not overjoyed with this showing but i'm nowhere near disapointed either.

Over all the team played pretty well, my only complaint was the defense let a rookie QB Nick Foles scorch them with two TD bombs, no pass rush and poor coverage even though the defense was playing with 2s and 3s they need to play better than that individualy if they expect to avoid the cuts during pre season.......

What the hell are you talking about? This did not sound familiar at all so I re-watched all three plays on his 2.5 sacks allowed, and nothing remotely close to this happened. No leg whips, no controlling his man, no tight ends crashing into him. Are you mixing him up with another player?

I will gladly admit that the half-sack was mostly Foster's fault, because he missed his man right away and caused the initial pressure. Adams' guy made contact but then backed off, and ran where Adams didn't expect in order to get Ben. But what you're describing didn't happen unless it was on a fourth play, and the other two sacks (with the fumbles) were all Adams.

it may not have been on a sack play at all. i do know foster ran into him on one occasion and a TE did leg whip him. heck that could have been the play he got hurt on. he only played 19 plays.

Was not impressed with how the o-line looked then again i understand its early and preseason and all but they looked slugish out there, hopefully coach T lights a fire on their arses and protect our Qb's better. :towel:
