The Steelers signed CB Justin King to the 53 man roster today. He was in for a workout a few weeks ago according to Ed Bouchette.

King was drafted by the Rams in the 4th round in '08 and played with them through last year. He spent some time with the Colts this season before being released after week 5.

Anyone know much about this guy? Simply a body to fight the injury plague, or likely to leap over Victorian in the depth chart?

He was pretty decent at Penn State. But let's face it he wasn't on a roster for a reason.

remember Kurt Warner wasnt on a roster either when the Rams found him at a super market and that worked out pretty good. not saying this guy is going to have that type of impact, but you never know.

He had a torn ligament in his first rookie preseason game and missed the rest of the 08 season, he ran the fastest 40 time of all cornerbacks at the combine with a 4.31, but his inactivity in 2012 means he has a lot to catch up on, especially in this defense, so he is raw and unlikely to contribute much this year if anything in my opinion, maybe next year if they keep him he could turn into something, who knows...

Tomlin just said in the presser that Demarcus Van Dyke is being placed on IR, so King is being brought in to fill the roster spot.

there's not really a roster spot right now I think, at least if Mendy goes back on active

If my sister had balls, she be my brother too.

J/K your right, there is always a chance, but the whole Kurt Warner is like a 1 in every 10.000 occurance.

no, they moved up Batch from PS when Mendy got suspended (thus freeing a spot that was then taken by Baron)

There's still too many on the 53 and they must make a move by 4pm today. They asked for an extension when mendy came off suspension and it was Barron Batch who replaced him. They'll have to release some-one and hope they clear waivers in order to re-sign them back to the PS or place Colon on the IR.

Why not IR Leftwich? Why is he taking up space on the roster? Then again, there's no reason for Colon to be there either. Some of the things the front office has done in regards to the 53 the last couple of years is puzzling.

Yep people probably thought the same thing about Silverback too. I know it's reaching but I can dream can't I? Especially since in my dreams we are 14-0 right now!!!!!!!

I read on Steelers Universe that he was "HORRIBLE" when he got to play for the Rams. For the LIFE of me I can NOT understand why this team didn't take Asante Samuel when he was out there. He has done just fine for Atlanta and he has done just fine every where else he has been. He has some picks this year in Atlanta I'm pretty sure. He's GOTTA be better than Victorian! I know we didn't foresee THIS much injury happening but still I would just like to have had him as a backup at LEAST! I don't care who drills me for this. When you look at his career stats he is VERY worthy of a roster spot in an age where corners are finding it harder and harder to cover without all the ticky tacky calls.

Pretty sure Samuel would have cost us a whole lot more, though, and he wouldn't be competing for the same spot as Victorian.
