Why don't we have a Steelers Ring of Honor at Heinz Field? That would be a great alternative to jerseys that have not yet been retired and may deserve to be.

The following Jerseys have not been worn since these players, but should be in discussion of being retired.

    12 - Terry Bradshaw
    32 - Franco Harris
    36 - Jerome Bettis
    47 - Mel Blount
    52 - Mike Webster
    58 - Jack Lambert
    59 - Jack Ham
75 - Joe Greene - Soon to be retired

Now there is talk about Hines Ward's 86 not being issued, but I wonder if that will happen? When the likes of John Stallworth 82 and Lynn Swann 88 have been repeatedly issued over the years.

Is there another team out there that has anything remotely even close to the Steelers "Great Hall" in their stadium?

That pretty much is the Steelers ring of honor.

That may be, but only in view of those who attend the games. It's not the same as having Bradshaw or others attend the game to have their name and jersey places on the stadium in view of televised games. It would be in view of all fans, not just those who pass by that part of the stadium.

The Steelers have never been flashy about the way they do things. The people who are important to the Steelers know the history. That's us fans. I wouldn't expect any "ring of honor" anytime soon.

As steeler fans we cherish so many players. I'm glad we don't have a ring of honor because I'd want so many players in it. Just the 70's alone could go around our stadium once. Then we move to the 90's and there is even more. Just too hard to pick in my opinion.

Woodson? Lloyd? I agree that we had some really good players in the 90s and the two aforementioned were two of the best. The best compliment I could give those two is that they could have played on those Steeler teams of the 70s and would have been major contributors.

I was thinking Dawson too, green,
Gildon, Bettis.. then we can add ward,
Cowher.. Obviously some of those played/coached into the early 2000's but still.

I was gonna say Dawson as well. Of course The Bus would be there.

Our ring of honor would have 2 tiers, or the names so small you couldn't read them. ;)

They could probably designate each section of the seating in the entire stadium to be dedicated to a particular Steeler. Put their number and Jersey at the top of the sections.

Example: Where are you seats Joe? Looks like I'm in the Louis Lipps section Row 10 seat 5 and 6. Dang those are better than my Dirt Dawson Row 12 seat 7and 8.

For some reason, I don't like the idea of a ring of honor.

they were quick to hand out Woodson and Lloyd's number. I could have sworn some young kid wore 58 not too long ago?? Maybe that was just in preseason

All of the reasons listed above are all correct for not doing it. That Great Hall is like a shrine. I've seen people arrive there and cry. Our players know they are loved and respected by all of us
