Khan made it clear that Jones was drafted to be a left tackle, and while he did not commit to making him a left tackle to start next season, he will move there eventually.

“I’ve said this before, but versatility on the offensive line is important. He proved he could play right tackle last year but he was drafted to be a left tackle. And eventually, he will be a left tackle. When that is, time will tell, but he was drafted to be a left tackle,” Khan said.

He did excellent filling in at his unnatural position. Can’t wait to see how he does at LT.

This is my main problem with this team. They will have a guy play outside of his best position and do well at it, then keep him there despite him actually possibly being better playing at his natural position.

This guy could be an All-Pro at his natural position or at least an All-Star, nah he plays good enough where we got him that we don't have to find an answer for that position. Everyone is just playing good enough!

I thank Dan Moore for manning the left tackle position but its time for Jones to move to his natural spot. They will get a right tackle in free agency and Moore will back up Jones. There are some tackles on the roster that need to be developed as a back up tackles. Moore indicated he is not comfortable playing the right side.

There were so many deficiencies on the Oline that they needed Jones to fill in wherever he was able to. Hopefully going forward through the draft that won’t be the case. One thing is for sure is this guy is versatile and was a huge upgrade at RT that we have not seen since the likes DeCastro. That is both promising and also sad. Hopefully we can hit on the RT position and he can take over permanently at LT. It’s good to know he can fill in at RT if called upon.

That's cause you make more money as a left tackle.

Jones played well in his one start when Moore was out at LT. He took some heat on a sack he gave up but that was on KP. Jones was blocking his guy to the outside and Kenny wheeled left and ran right into the sack.

With the amount of penalties he has I’m not sure he’s comfortable playing on the Oline at all.

I agree, but when it's Moore that happens to ...some on here blame Moore for it.

Chuks was brought in to be an LT as well.

Sadly, even if they take a RT, they're not going to start him right away. So someone is going to have to hold it down. You think They get a decent RT in FA when they're looking like they're taking one in the draft to take your spot?

Unfortunately for Moore he's not likely to get paid big money in free agency, he's just not good enough.

Good question. I'd have to do some deep diving to see what the trends typically are, but the only left-handed starter I'm aware of currently is Tagovailoa.

The Dolphins have some money invested in both tackles, but it appears the LT is still the bread winner. In 2022 they signed Armstead (at age 31) to man the left side, with a 5/$75M deal, including over $30M in guarantees.

Last year they signed Austin Jackson to handle the RT spot, his contract a 3/$36M deal (they added two void years to buffer the cap numbers), including over $21M in guarantees. Jackson is younger (25 entering next season), which contributes to some of the gap between the two, but at face value their LT's contract has an AAV of $25M while their RT is at $12M.

depends on spencer anderson and cook. one of those two may take over the right tackle spot. if moore can't do anymore than be a left tackle backup then his days may be numbered here. possible trade for something. i like moore but...... game day backup has to be able to be flexible. can anderson play at a high enough level across the board to start or be the main game day backup will be the thing to watch and may seal the fate of dan moore here. or cook for that matter. we have a lot of tackles that were here or on the PS that we have brought back for year two. let the competition begin.

Absolutely, but left handed qb's are few and far between.... it's a really good question that coaches and f.o.'s have to consider..... especially if they're moving on from a right hander and have a LT already under a fat contract
