Said the same thing. How anyone can be comfortable with Worilds and JJ is a head thumper. JJ was badly over matched last year, let him get his minutes off the bench, no pressure on him. At this present time, Woodley is still better then JJ.

Joe SH*T the Ragman from Chitland Switch Mississippi would help more than Woodly. All he does is keep a wrap around his leg. Hasn't been 100% for two years.. Wasn't he hurting in the GB Superbowl too?

We don't save anything by using the June 1st deadline. We just spread out his dead money hit over two years(2014-15).

He's switching up his training regime this year, Troy was in the same boat with injuries and stayed on the filed the whole year last season after changing his training, maybe Woodley will have the same results.
Calling it right now, Woodley will have a good season. Heard it here first, folks :stogie:

it does glen...instead of absorbing the hit this year as 14 mil it is spread about 5.5 this year and 8.5 next...so it does give us some cap help...esp with the cap going up again....it wont kick in until june 1 though

I guess I wasn't saying that Woodley isn't better than JJ at this current moment, but at ROLB I don't think the upgrade is anything more than marginal. I fully expect JJ to be a little better too, even if he isn't spectacular. What it comes down to for me is that Woodley is more valuable to this team off the roster to save us 26 million over the next two years than he is playing ROLB in 2014. JMO. We can find a player who is as good as Woodley (at this point in his career) for a 1/4 of the cost. Save the $$$ and sign someone cheaper to be a back up/rotate with JJ if need be. We shouldn't be any worse off.

While it may happen...I think it doesn't. I think Larry was only set to make 1.4 mill for the season....not a hole lot more than vet min of what?....$925,000?

All those saying we should keep Woodleybecause we ddon't know what we have in JJ can you please tell me what we have in Woodley? Wait until after camp to cut him why so he get injured in camp and us be on the hook his contract. At least if we designate him a June 1st cut we can get a couple of guys in here to participate in camp and not get signe& after.

Do we save that 26 Million in cap space or is that just what the Steelers would save $ wise?

I mentioned that too, they could cut him and pick up a FA but who? Slim pickings and they won't be familiar with DL system either. We can cut Woodley in 2015 and still help our cap. I think they will be fine for this year cap wise. But what if he returns to form this year? Would you still want to cut him? I mean from a cap stand point, obviously you'd want his production if he turns in a big season.

By the way, I agree that JJ will be better this season, but just him and Worilds is real thin.

Woodley was damn good before the injuries set in. Troy stayed healthy last year, he was as bad with injuries as Woodley. A healthy Woodley would be productive for us.

We don't know the exact figures for Will Allen, but assuming it's vet min., we're still not quite under cap yet. Should be just over $300K to go.

You're probably right. Though, he was set to make just over $1.8 Mil. He could be brought back in case of emergency and count as a minimum salary benefit. That was $555,555 + SB last year.

Who are these guys? Wasn't it discussed in the Woirlds threads that after Orakapo signed his tender it made Woirlds the top OLB in FA? So who is out there to provide depth, most on here have them waving goodbye to Carter so what level of player is out there that they can invite to camp and not sign? Maybin? Some other Bengals castoff? Do you convert an inside guy?
