You never know, plant leg has to be strong, and if the ligament isn't fully healed we need a fallback option. Swish isn't a strapping young lad anymore so things could go wrong. If this Boswell dude turns out to be decent then we'll have some cheap insurance.

I'm just as mad as Scobee as the rest of you, but hope this wasn't an overreaction. One of the kicks was basically 50 yds, so that's no gimmir at Heinz. When you look at the missed kicks yesterday, Colts, SD (39 yds), NO (30yds), Buffalo (35 yds) a lot of easier kicks are being missed.

I wouldn't be concerned about preseason touch back percentage. In the preseason, you want to test your fringe roster players for special teams ability. If I were a coach, I would want my kicker to keep kickoffs in play so that I can see which fringe players have a knack for kick coverage, shedding open field blocks, tackling shifty returners, etc.

The good news is that he's never missed an NFL kick. See how easy it is to change a glass from half empty to half full?

So what, every time a college kicker gets signed, they have to kick in their first NFL game, a kicker has his own style of kicking and if he has sound fundamentals it doesnt matter if he's facing a college special team defense or an NFL one, if he has the confidence and technical aspects of his kicking style down pat he will be successful....

Lets give the kid a chance. Looks like he has a strong leg. Id have him kicking toward the open end of "The Big Ketchup Bottle" from 45 yds and out till the flight leaves for SD.

Not the best kicker in the world, low percentage average, besides the bills just signed him this week:

Four games into the new season, the Buffalo Bills are shaking up the depth chart at kicker.

The team announced Wednesday that veteran Billy Cundiff was signed to the team's 53-man roster, putting the heat on embattled veteran Dan Carpenter.

Carpenter whiffed on a 30-yard field goal in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Giants, putting his roster spot in danger. Kickoff specialistJordan Gay was released to make room for Cundiff, who can handle those duties but remains far from reliable as a field-goal machine.

Cundiff, 35, missed a rash of game-crushing kicks for the Brownslast season and remains a cross-your-fingers performer beyond 30 yards. In a season full of gloomy kicker performances, Cundiff only adds to the drama.

I was high on Myers as well watching him bomb away in the preseason. Guess things are a bit different when a real game is on the line....

Will definitely be crossing my fingers we don't see that first magic kickoff come down at the 5 yard-line, and that our final score is a multiple of 7 (or 8).....

    Rats kic
Rats kicker booted from 50 and 52 yards to tie and then win on the same field. Don't apologize for the abortion of a game by Scobee. And as we know, not the only crappy outing for him since being signed.

Do you really think Scoobee would have hit them going the other way? He was barely making the shorter kicks, granted one was deflected. He missed an extra point this year too. He was clearly in his head. Steelers didnt have the luxury of waiting it out.
