Not out of reach yet, The Browns with one win, Ravens with 2 and the rubber match on MNF will move one or the other into the win column. I'm going to say Pittsburgh because its MNF and Monday Magic is going to happen.

Khan is basically an accountant he wouldn't be a good fit. This is why a lot of teams passed on him years ago when they interviewed him. Kevin is looking to retire, not go anywhere else.

I’m with you. So we finally make aggressive moves right when we lost our top 3 players and the most important position? Something is up.

Did I say you did or quote you? :lolol:

I'm just saying, he's not making these moves because he is on his way out.

Thx for asking, man; everything well here. A lot of work and travel, but I'm fine.
Thinking about coming back to write some 1/4 season thoughts this week (if @TerribleTowelFlying@TerribleTowelFlying is ok with that).

    How about you?

His contract is up in May, he might be on his way out. I don't think that has anything to do with the moves he's making though.

Reports Say Shoulder Injury Sustained By Vance McDonald Not Serious

    By Dave Bryan
    Posted on September 24, 2019

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded for tight end Nick Vannett Tuesday night and while on the surface it would appear as though that deal was made due to starting tight end Vance McDonald possibly being sidelined for an extended amount time with a shoulder injury he sustained on Sunday, reports now indicate otherwise.

According to Ian Rapoport‏ of the NFL Network, McDonald is battling a shoulder sprain that won’t result in an extended absence. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette also reported Tuesday night that the Steelers did not trade for Vannett because they think McDonald’s shoulder injury is bad. Instead, the Steelers are reportedly attempting to bolster the tight end position and get a better No. 2 after what they’ve witnessed through their first three games.

I liked Vannett better than Heuerman when both were at OSU. But I think Heuerman came out a year before. Good move imo.

    Quite.

We all know we needed to pick another TE up. Maybe we could have signed a camp cut but I like Vannett better than what was already out there.

Colbert backed himself into a corner. Plenty of us were banging the table for a capable TE to slot into the #2 slot in the offseason, and their response was to draft a guy whose college tape suggests that he’s at least a year away (if ever) from being a legit NFL player. He had to do this, but we played 3 weeks handcuffed at the position even with McDonald healthy.

Yep. Who didn’t see just how weak our #2 and #3 TEs were before the season? Colbert, that’s who.

First off just want to say love the move but holy cow who is this new team????? I mean like others have mentioned all of a sudden this team is trade happy???? I am not complaining but as a "long time" fan this is all new to mean, lol........and I love it.

My only complain is the timing, while some here were high on Grimble many here were not. Lots of us were worried about the TE position when JJ left and they did nothing to address it. Now here we sit 0-3 and with our back up QB and we are trading picks like they are a hot potato. I like the move but the way the season is going these picks could be the best we have had in over 15 years. If the front office/coaching wanted to go all in they should have done it preseason and when our starting QB was healthy, right?

I just checked Vannett’s contract details. He’s an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. So, we traded a 5th round pick for a < 1 season rental at the backup TE position. I’m not sure I’m seeing the logic here. If we had won Sunday, then I see it. Is Vannett that much better than any of the unemployed TEs out there? Is having him vs. someone like Koyack going to be the difference in making the playoffs?

That was my concern as well. Yes, they have a big hole at tight end for this season, but they are 0-3 and their quarterback is out for the season. It seems odd at best to trade a fifth-rounder to rent a backup for just this season.

It does lend credence to the idea that Colbert may not expect to be here next season. I'm sure the argument will be that the Dobbs trade allowed them to do this, but what's wrong with having two fifth-round picks?

Can confirm the Steelers have made a trade for Nick Vannett, who previously played for the Seahawks.

Just strange that Colbert picks this year to make all these moves. We had our window and Colbert did nothing. You would think we are making a championship run or something this year.

He's going out with a bang  They backed themselves into a corner with no viable back up to The Big Mac who now is a Cheeseburger. Miss Jesse James yet? But hey, we have the great Alvin

What's wrong with trying to upgrade at te? Apparently the Steelers FO didn't think anyone available was ready. They value Vannett more than their next 5th round project. Just my opinion.
