In case you missed it, we have gone 5-1 in our last 6 games, and won on the road last week vs. another team of professionals who also get paid, and also try to win. In case you missed it, we were so depleted with injuries to offensive weapons last week that we picked up two guys from the unemployment line (Whyte and Cain) who not only played, but logged significant snaps and made key plays. Last week absolutely does not support what you are saying. Not even close.

Its like these people are living in some kinda bizzaro world, has anybody looked at what the Steelers are trotting out there on offense? We're talking about probably the worst personnel in the NFL, its a miracle they've won a game. Devlin Hodges is our starting QB let that sink in.Tomlin has done miracle work this season.

No one is judging Tomlin on this season. No one. The results of this season really are not much different than the last 7 seasons. That's my point. With all of those key players healthy we were not winning like we should have been either. The fact that you use that as an excuse for sucking now tells me you agree. Or did you have a new excuse for that? I'm judging Tomlin on the last 6-7 years and this season is just part of the picture.

Who's call was it to start the season with a back up QB who can't get a 1st down? So IMO he can still shoulder some of the blame. I get it back up QB's tend to suck...but the results we have got out of our QB's is a joke. There are rookie QB's and back ups all over the league playing better football . No one is asking for elite play here. There are only 3 or 4 teams with a worse ranked offense and we are +10 in turnover margin. so to suggest the HC gets a free pass is kinda ridiculous. Would it be unfair to expect 14 points out of our offense each week..no matter who the QB is?

The last 2 weeks who's played worse football? Not many teams. If Duck doesn't come into that game we give the Bengals their 1st win. Luckily he did and we barely got over one of the worst teams in nfl history. Week before that we were throttled by a bad browns team. So it's pretty safe to say we are not playing as well as we were, especially on offense. Last 2-3 weeks our offense has tanked. We are not playing our best football right now...didn't think that was debatable. There is not a single team that I can confidently say we can beat right now. My hope is Devlin is a better QB than we all realize and he can get this team back on track. We shall see.

    Last 2 weeks:
Dolphins are 0-2, gave up 37 and 41 points.
Jaguars are 0-2, gave up 33 and 42 points.
Broncos are 0-2, only scored 3 vs the Bills
    Cowboys are 0-2
    Chargers are 0-2
    Bengals are 0-2
    Giants are 0-2
    Eagles are 0-2
    Cardinals are 0-2
    Lions are 0-2
    Falcons are 0-2
    Panthers are 0-2

Redskins are 1-1, but I challenge you to say they're better
Raiders are 1-1, beat the Bengals like the Steelers and then blown out by the Jets
    Bucs are 1-1
    Bears are 1-1
    Rams are 1-1

Hard to imagine a scenario where none of these teams played worse than the Steelers the last 2 weeks.

I’m not going down a path of detailing my views on Tomlin’s performance over the past few years yet again. That’s not at all what I was talking about here. I’ll just summarize by saying that I think he did an effective job overall until the team came out flat in the playoff loss to Jacksonville. That was a bit of a turning point for me, and I needed to see something special last season to feel confident that he was still the right guy. We all know how that played out. I would have been fine if the team had gone a different direction in the offseason, but I also understand that a change at the top could make things worse. When teams that have accomplished coaches like Tomlin make a change, it usually doesn’t get better. However, this season I think Tomlin has done a very good job. It may be the best coaching job of his career.

Let me turn to your notion that Tomlin somehow blew it with our backup QB situation. I think you’re cherry picking by looking only at the QB that Rudolph has become since his concussion. He was actually a pretty effective game manager until that hit. With Rudolph managing the offense, we were close to beating a Seattle team that’s now 9-2. We were close to beating a 49ers team that’s 10-1 - in their house. We dominated the Bengals. We played the Ravens tighter than any team has played them since (including the 10-1 Pats). All of this with Rudolph as a starter. When Rudolph was injured, he had 7 TDs with 2 ints and a passer rating of over 100. I don’t think Rudolph was ever on track to being a future Pro Bowler, or the successor to Ben, but he was absolutely doing what you expect from a quality backup QB by managing games effectively. Really, even after the concussion he was semi-effective until the Browns game. Should Tomlin have foreseen that Rudolph would get concussed, and then become significantly less effective than he was earlier in the year? Are you denying that Rudolph was playing well for a backup QB before his injury?

    Hey Dobbler.

Yes, I am pretty sure your wife has had her encounters and you have heard all about them (laughing). I have to remind people the old saying: "You just cannot make this stuff up". I taught in CT (New Haven) and MD. All inner-city (Yes, CT has some rough spots contrary to popular thinking). However, that was my choice and what I am "Built" for.

Do not get me wrong. I love teaching. I had a great career as I am now retired. Not boasting (just making a point) but I won "The Teacher of the Year" in one of the nation's most troubled Urban School Districts. In part my "success" can be partly attributed to where I grew up which seasoned me for the job.

A lot also had to do with understanding the culture of our students; which is usually the downfall of the newer teachers. Many come in thinking it is going to be like Leave it to Beaver ("Yes, Ms. Landers. No, Ms. Landers") or the Cosby Kids. Then reality hits. Not saying that the more affluent school districts do not have their problems. They do. Not just to the proportion that the inner-city districts have. In the end, young people need structure, structure, structure, and more structure. No matter where they come from. That is one of the key starting points for many new teachers. Take care and tell your wife I said thanks for all that she has done for the field. Feel free to shoot me a Conversation in the future if you would like and vice-versa. Take care.

In case you missed it, the offense is still just as depleted. They haven't gotten anybody back. They are still probably going to give meaningful snaps to Whyte and Cain.

I would certainly rather see Cain over Holton and Whyte over Edmunds, but I'd feel a hell of a lot better if it was Smith-Schuster and Conner.

everyone rags on Tomlin for being a cheerleader, while he might be more than (Cowher, Noll) I think ewhat he is doing now with the team without Pouncey, Conner, JuJu, is more managing than cheerleading, I'll say right now, while some of his in game calls maybe questioned is off the field managing should be acknowledged

He or Vannett are never used, why would Randy get them involved now?

This would be a good time for it. The Browns are down both starters at safety. Then again, going over the middle also means potentially making Schobert look like an All-Pro again.
