    Didn't he return to practice?

Sims really played his way onto the roster. That really does seem like too many receivers, but I thought he was too good to cut.

Hope the defense is in really good condition as they'll be on the field a lot if we can't move the chains. JMO>

Heyward isn't being used as a fullback. I don't think he lined up anywhere but tight end all preseason.

I honestly think Heyward's role is going to be wingback in Canada's short yardage formations, something that really hasn't been busted out yet in preseason. He'll probable get shovel passes, jet sweeps or be the lead blocker out of that flexbone-style set.

I doubt he gets any jet sweeps, those plays are for quick players like Gunner and Austin.

Watch Pitt 2016... FB's and TE's got jet sweeps on short yardage situations, much like Claypool got some his rookie year.

His brother is their best player. LOL , don't want to piss him off. Only logical answer to your question for past 3 years. This is a crime, like stealing.

Thanks for info!! When I first glanced and saw Mason on top I thought this guy is way wrong. Then I realized it is in order of their numbers.

Derek Watt does contribute on special teams for what it’s worth.

We can get this done a whole lot cheaper. Maybe be able to acquire a competent OL?

True, but at cost of making TJ unhappy. Our defense is pretty much toothless without him.

nor did watt. H-Back or whatever you want to call him. not many 5-11 tight ends in this league. i also saw him lined up off the line in the backfield.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connor_Heyward

    he's listed as both.

Shocked that we let go of macfarland and kept 7 wr's, but then again, he wasted running behind an o-line that can't open holes for him

It is either ignorant or misleading to talk about where Derek Watt didn't like up since he didn't play in any of the preseason games. It certainly tells us nothing of his role in the offense.

I've seen wide receivers in the backfield in previous years, too. Once upon a time they did it quite a bit with Kordell Stewart. By your logic, he should have been considered a fullback, too.

Seriously, Heyward is the third tight end. Watt is the only true fullback on the team. You can argue that Heyward is too short to be a tight end all you want, but the Steelers list him there and that is where he played in the preseason games.

Please point out the post in which I wrote that he cannot play fullback or would never play there in the NFL. I'll give you a hint. It doesn't exist.

To this point, he has played tight end in games, though they are only preseason. James Harison used to practice long snapping. That didn't make him a long snapper. (We saw that in a game once, if you remember.)

Why would I do that when I wasn't wrong? I said Heyward had worked entirely at tight end in three preseason games. That is accurate.
