I've been hearing all this praise about the Browns and how they can run all these different run blocking schemes. All the holes they opened up for Chubb etc.

From watching just the TV tape looks like they tend to block one way and hold the outside shoulder on the cut backs. Cam was complaining about it late in the game to the umpire. I get that you can't call everything, but it struck me as familiar.

Seems that once a line gets know as being good at something, they don't get as many calls against them.

The Patriots had it going for several years as least penalized O-line and when they did get those odd games where they were called, they had problems! Same during one of the Steelers Super Bowl run, they were the least penalized line, but if you watch they got away with a lot. Baltimore and any scrambling QB, seem to get away with more as well.

So is it some sort of human bias with the refs?

I think it’s no different than pass interference calls. Each ref is different and you kind of learn how far you can push it before they start throwing flags.

I've said before about when a Qb runs....watch the OL push in the back, and grab from behind. It's like they are just letting this go....I really started noticing that about 3 years ago.

Just watched a video talking about the Steelers line getting some good reps in as far as run blocking.

One of the key things he kept saying was “hips square hands inside”.

totally not what I saw with the Browns. Lots of hands outside and not centered up on defenders. To me if you’ve crossed over the guys face and have your hands outside the shoulders, while the guy is trying to go in the other direction, that’s a hold.
