Snakebitten?

Well here we go, lots of promise in the beginning of the offseason, only to be shattered before the season starts. Well, this is my opinion on the situation.

Golson hurt AGAIN. = He is an unproven commodity. Can't say he will help us, or hurt us. Oh well.

Bryant suspended= this hurts. He stretches the field, but it can be overcome. Coates/Wheaties/Rogers/DHB and of course the machine AB. I like our corps.

Bell out 4 games. = sucks but silver lining he heals. I doubt he is getting away with no time out. Plus D williams can pick up the load.

Green probably won't play. = This is HUGE. Our TE situation is unknown right now. The loss of Heath is greater than any other TE loss though.

Plus you got Bud dupree hurt, which I think he will recover from.

Our secondary is a mess. Cockrell and Gay on the corners? Davis maybe in the slot? Now I hear Grant might play safety? We really don't have great depth here. 1 injury away from being even more of a mess. Please pick it up Burns!

Maurkice pouncey hurt. = this is huge, wallace is a huge dropoff. When pouncey is on the field, our line does so much better. (might as well add this in already #reversejinxies

I do however believe Jarvis picks it up this year. Unstoppable run stopper, solid at coverage, and a huge improvement with 3 sacks.

I'm getting nervous but not panicking just yet.

 

When did pouncey get hurt? I thought they were just holding him out so that he wouldn't get hurt

Just over 8 hours until our 1st preseason begins and already it's gloom and doom time.

Say hi to Real steel for me.

 

The bottom line is this. This teams success hinges on Ben. As long as we keep him healthy we have a shot. He elevates everyone on the field. Our ultimate goal is not gonna be reached through Bryant, Golson, Green, or Pouncey. We have to have a healthy Ben and as long as he is on the field we have a shot to win any game we are in. Does it suck to have people hurt and suspended and all that? Yeah. But it's not the end of the world. We almost beat the eventual champion last year with Ben playing with one good arm and with AB and Le'Veon watching from the sidelines.

 

we also had heath miller on the field. we saw the mess we had last time heath was out and this is the one major downfall on offense over any other right now. c'mon jesse.

 

Yeah Ben not having that security blanket is a blow for sure. Man I'd kill to get Heath back! He's pretty much my favorite Steeler of all time. At least on offense anyway. Maybe overall. If I had a gun to my head I would be really close to saying Heath.

 

At some point you have to point the finger at who ever is making these personnel decisions. How many off seasons full of embarrassing mistakes can a team have? We have Ben and 2 elite players helping him in Bell and Brown and Bell will probably miss 25% of the season if we are lucky.

All we need is just a little help on defense and a starting TE. Seems to me to be about the easiest off season challenge any FO can hope for...and we F it up again. Our top goals this off season were to improve the secondary, find a starting TE, and improve the pass rush from the front 4. Looks like #1 and #2 are already a fail and we haven't played 1 pre season game. We can only hope #3 happens because if it doesn't we'll be an 8-8 team again.

I think the smart thing is to try and get out of Green's contract and hope for a couple players to get cut or pull off a trade. We desperately need a TE and corner.

Does anyone know if we are on the hook for the cap hit if Green's contract is terminated? I just don't see how you can prove intentional deception by Green. It's obvious he did pull one over on us but I don't see how you can prove it. I'd black list his Agent and refuse to ever negotiate with him...and make sure you tell every team and player in the NFL to do the same.

 

Not doom and gloom yet, read my last sentence lol. I agree with Blount, as long as #7 is on the field we have a shot. Take away #7 and even with Denver's D, we wont win it all lol.

Let's see what else this offseason has in store for us.

 

Umm, I don't think it's a "huge" drop-off when Wallace is in there. Seemed to do just fine last year and the year before that. They just don't run those plays expecting him to get out downfield to the second level.
