    Can you cite reasons why?

Convince me I should give him another shot.

    Thanks!

Not trying to start a fight but... it doesn't matter if you (or anyone else on this board) wants to give BA another shot.

It's cool, I'm not trying to start a flame war either. I'm am seriously considering not watching the Steelers if BA returns. We have seen many opinions on why he should go but the only 2 I've seen to keep him were
    1. He has been to 2 superbowls
    2. We were 12-4 this season.

These arguments don't count because I could say it about anyone on the roster.
Willy gay, been to 2 superbowls. Went 12-4 this season.

I just want some solid arguments as to why this team should keep him

Interesting article. I agree with him for the most part. Especially about Arrians. I think the biggest benefit to him being gone will be Ben finally having a coach and not a buddy. I love that Ben can move around, but if he could improve on his pre snap reads and his patience (not always wanting the big play and taking the checkdowns) and combine that with his ability to extend the play he will improve as a QB dramatically.

The part i don't agree with is that we have below average running backs. I believe Redman is a true stud and given the opportunity he would flourish. I think had he been given an opportunity earlier, he could have had the same effect as Antonio Brown did this year. Mendenhall definately had a down year, but has a ton of talent. Dwyer looked good when he played, and same for Clay. I also believe out o line is a better run blocking line.

I'd love to see more neutral formations that we could run or pass successfully from. More play action passes. More short passes. and less predictable play calls with specific formations and down and distance. I unpredictability with our talent would be a dangerous thing.

Can you give a reason why you think he deserves to be back? He has had 5 years to get this offense to where it needs to be. Last I checked the NFL was a business, a big busines, and he is not meeting expectations. What would happen to you or any of us if we sucked at our job? And he certainly does at his.(D.R.B.A.I.)

IiiI'd love to hear an articulated reason why he should come back other than "we've been to 2 superbowls with him".

What a bunch of horse s#@t.... We went DESPITE him with a ridiculously talented team. That's why we went 12-4 this season with injuries too. It wasn't coaching. Watch any game. If a team plays down to talent like we do and barely makes it out of games against crap teams, it's because of talent and NOT coaching.

We only won 1 soper bowl with him and that game came down to one amazing drive between 2 of our most talented players in a no huttle WITHOUT BA calling the plays.

Why should we think he's a good play manager?!?!!! He came from the Colts with Manning calling HIS own plays...

So, pretty please, explain? There aren't even offensive stats to bolster your opinion that I'm aware of.

And I hate to hear about people getting fired, it bothers me. But, a guy at the end of his career, who has a lot of money and a super bowl to reflect on, I can live with...

2010 14th total offense not bad
2009 7 th total offense pretty good

With our D and out total offense In The top 15 we will win a lot of games....oh wait we already have won a lot of games

    2011 - 20.3 points per game -- tied 21st
    2010 - 23.4 points per game -- 12th
    2009 - 23 points per game -- 12th
    2008 - 21.7 points per game -- 20th
    2007 - 24.6 points per game -- 9th

With our D limiting other teams, we should be scoring more. We should be winning easily and able to rest some players to avoid injury.

Scoring is up around the league due to rules and the way the game changed. We are basically stagnent (even regressing) as all other teams find it easier to score.

The name of the game is scoring I've never seen a team with less points and better stats. win a game yet. The Steelers are ranked 21st in that department and that is with a franchise QB,some very talented WRs and some above average RBs and TEs ,yet they still finished middle of the pack. So yeah we will win a lot of games because of our D and mediocre offense ,only because of the overall talent on this team. So you can be content with winning some games, maybe making the playoffs, but this franchise is and always will be about winning Super Bowls. The way that the game has changed with the rules that heavily favor offenses, it will become harder and harder every year to be in a position to compete for a ring without a Top 10 scoring offense. No one can argue with the talent we have on O, but there is something fundamentally wrong with the way this offense is asked to perform. Every year our defense is expected to perform on a high level and they do, even with the league trying to tie one arm behind their backs. Is it so much to ask that the offense pull their own weight? (D.R.B.A.I.)

I've said on here before that I'm neither for nor against Arians. Smizik writing the article, though, is a good reason for him to come back! I'm not much for Smizik's opinions.

Stinky - your stats are only based on yardage, but the last time I checked, games are won & lost based on points scored. So with that in mind, here are the facts:

    2011 - 21st/22nd (tie) - pretty ugly
    2010 - 12th - not great
    2009 - 12th - not great
    2008 - 20th - pretty bad

So from a scoring standpoint, we're actually worse off now than 4 years ago even though we had substantially greater offensive weapon this year. How can you possibly say we're in good shape in the OC position with these facts? We're Steeler Nation. We deserve better. :FBAI!:

Just looking through just our division for some thoughts on this:

Cinn. we really took it to them on offense. We scored 59 points against them.

Cleveland - We scored 27 points against them.

Baltimore - We scored 27 points against them.

What is the difference between Clev. and Balt.? One team has talent and the other doesn't.

    Other thoughts:

In road games we only averaged just over 14 points a game. Home games we averaged 25 points a game.
Road Teams had an overall record of 65-63
Home Teams had an overall record of 61-67

3rd year Mathew Stafford blew Ben out of the water in TD's. Rookie Andy Dalton only had one less. Lets think about that for a second...

By Veteran Sports Writer Bob Smizik Case Against Arians

See this article by Veteran Sports Commentator Bib Smizik:

    http://communityvoices.sites.post-gazet ... nst-arians

I agree 100% among many other reasons why he should not be re-signed. He is a little easy on Arians but, still knowing that he should not be brought back by the organnazation.
