There is no all around RB that is better than Bell. Bagels know this, are jealous, and aim to take him out. lol

Of course, unless he is radically a different player after his injury, you have to sign him. He's much more then a RB. Has no one noticed that Ben doesn't dump it off as much without him.

Ben and Bell didn't really play with each other this year, so it's not a fair comparison whatsoever

You have the best RB in the league (Bell), arguable the best back-up RB, and the 3rd and 4th string running backs could be back-ups on some teams rosters! Sign Bell and Draft a CB. RB is one position we can afford not to worry about right now! Bell is too special to let anyone else have him!

Draft corners and safeties. Also need a TE, OL/DL depth and backup qb soon. We are contending next year we absolutely need Bell in the mix.

Might have to pickup a safety in free agency. I think Boykin will leave and golson will take his slot. Hope Grant pans out

Lot of people feel Boykin wont be back but he got more snaps then anyone but Gay down the stretch.

If the Steelers offer him a fair contract, I doubt he will let a grudge, if he even holds one, get in the way. The important thing is, he was being used heavily towards the end of the season.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean about fair comparison? I said we should sign Bell but use him smarter and don't wear him out, along with some commentators said that our passing game with our receivers actually got better after Bell left due to injury. Please help explain the comparison.

The passing game comment. Ben and Bell didn't get to play together much this year. It's not fair to compare our passing game with Vick and Bell compared to Ben and DWill.

Okay, but I think they are referring to Ben with our receivers got better. Ben did throw less dump offs without Bell in the lineup and threw to the receivers more.

If they're referring only to Ben's numbers, than okay, although he was still without Bryant in the beginning of the season, so that could have affected his numbers. I'm just saying, Ben and Bell hardly got to play together much this year, so I just don't think any real comparisons can be drawn about the passing game with and without Bell.

Bell is a very, very good weapon in the passing game and he's a great runner, I simply see no reason why having him in the lineup would negatively affect the passing game. Even if the stats are there to support such a conclusion, the old saying applies, correlation does not equal causation. Maybe was Bell was in, Ben just had a bad game, or played better defences, etc. Bell is a very good weapon in the passing game, and he'll only help us

Okay, i think they were referring to Ben and his wide receiver trio. How do you feel about the over use of Bell and his injuries the past 2 years? To me he takes a lot of hard hits and he doesn't have the body type of a Adrian Peterson or a Jerome Bettis and I'm concerned with his over use.

How many carries does he have compared to the average bell cow RB in the league? You're right, he doesn't have the body of Jerome Bettis, he's in far, far better shape. Bell's injuries have been due to unfortunate hits, not any kind of usage. All it takes is one carry for Bell to get his knee blown up. I haven't seen any injuries due to over usage at this point. If he starts getting banged up a lot, then his usage can be reduced, but until then, I see no reason to think he's being overused. He's being used exactly like every RB used to be.

Without a lot research I think that Bell when playing with Ben has more touches, both running, pass blocking, pass receiving than any other back in the league. Not that it's a bad thing, but a heck of a lot of touches.

I only care about other bell cow RB's, such as AP. I don't care how he stacks up to Gio Bernard (for example) because Bernard is a part time player. But again, even if what you say is true, until there's some signs of him getting banged up due to his usage, I dont' think there's a problem. No need to fix something that's not broken

Let's leave it go at that, and let's hope he'll be okay after the injury and see how he is preseason.

This may sounds harsh... but if you extend him now coming off the injury maybe you can pay him less than he might be worth?

With AB's eventual new contract we are going to need to save where we can.

I think we will have to wait & see how he comes back from
injury and see what he has, then sign him to a Steeler/ league friendly rb
    appropriate wage.

the same can be said for any position and any draft pick. what i'm saying is bell won't last forever. every leg injury will take away some of that skill that bell has shown. i just wouldn't break the bank until we know how he comes back. we have seen this in far too many cases here. we have also shown we can do the same with other backs. i just wouldn't allow AB too walk over a RB. we are far better with our receivers than our RB. sure it would be nice to have them all, but i'm afraid that window will soon be closing.

On the Steelers: Running back Le'Veon Bell wants ball, but he is not inclined to ask for it

Steelers' Le'Veon Bell carries against the Ravens in the first quarter last Thursday at Heinz Field.

By Ed Bouchette / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Le’Veon Bell wants the ball, he just won’t demand it. Not on fourth-and-1, not on third-and-2 with the game on the line, not in overtime, not on the goal line (not in a box, not with a fox).

“Umm, I’ll never turn it down if they call my number. I can’t say I need the ball every time.”

Maybe he should, at least Monday night in San Diego, where the third-worst rush defense resides. The Chargers have allowed nearly 5 yards per rush. Bell became the first to rush for over 100 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in 30 games when he gained 129 last week with a 5.9 average. It’s the first time a Steelers back had eclipsed 100 yards rushing against Baltimore since Jerome Bettis did it in 2004.

I agree. I've said it before, but I think the whole idea that Boykin will be pissed off because he wasn't played is very much a view from the outside. Obviously, every player wants to play, but I would be surprised if he wasn't getting an explanation as to why he wasn't getting on the field earlier on.

(Although I do seem to remember Bruce Arians (think it was him?) 'forgetting' that Limas Sweed was on the team...)

You sign Bell and improve the defense through the draft, unless you can find a heck of a deal in FA for the secondary. Bell is the best RB in the league. No way you let him go, or even trade him. Lock him up!
