They definitely need to put duck in. He's more poised than Rudolph.
Mason looks very indecisive about where he wants to go with the ball.

I said the same thin . The play calling is redundant but if you're not gonna have your QB push the ball downfield then bring in Duck

when you throw downfield sometimes you get PI calls at least, and when you have a chance to win the game with the ball in your hands, you run to predictable runs and a incomplete pass. just horrid coaching.

Rudolph needs to continue to work to get better. If his accuracy can improve I think he will gain more confidence.

I don’t see Duck doing anything different. This kind of reminds me of the people who were happy we lost Ben and that Rudolph took over (we can see how well that has been working).

Its hard to be consistant when you have rushing D players in your face over and over. O Line gets an F

He just needs to step out of pocket trouble.

He’s throwing off his back foot constantly and can’t follow through because he’s got an O lineman pushed up in his face.

You don't see Duck doing anything better because he's not in there. He would have pushed the ball downfield. MR is scared to make a mistake. You can't win that way.

Horrible horrible play calling, preparation, and clock management. Worst coached team in football. Worst. By far.

I didn’t see anything in the Chargers game to suggest he would yield a different result (Duck threw for 150ish yards in that game). Play calling a piece of all of this.....

Fichtner is not helping. Getting your QB killed via attemtping to killshot is one thing. The bigger issue is the lack of confidence Fichtner has in Mason.

Yes, Mason MUST get better overall. His mental clock doubly so and no less. That said, to get better, he needs to be given chances to do so. Honestly speaking, some of the Offensive Playcalling, and I highly stress the term "some", of the first half was the best Offensive Playcalling Fichtner has done with Mason.

Playing not to lose only works if you have a huge lead with a running game that can burn out the clock should the clock have little time remaining. Anything over 4+ mins, with less than a 10 point lead, leads to SERIOUS isuses. That is not a Mason issue.

    That is a COACHING issue.

Mason did well, managing the game for 3+ quarters until near the end.

Now, you know how good Roethlisberger is huh?

Mason is ok but I still don’t think he’s the answer.

those throwing behind the player slants and wobbly short bombs... no bueno

The fact remains that the steelers still don't have Ben's replacement on the roster. It sure as hell isn't duck and Mason hasn't shown crap either.

There were many times that he had time to throw. A few of the throws he completed were off target. At times he held the ball to long. Mason is struggling with accuracy. As a result, he's throwing short to the RB's.

It's not been all bad with Mason. He did some good things. He is still a young QB that can improve. I am optimistic he will improve.

Ben had that wow factor as a rookie. Incredible plays and yes some bad stats at times but you know you had a chance to be victorious.

Rudolph made some nice throws today and is a big reason (behind the defense) we won. Dropped passes, offensive playcalling, and the refs almost made us lose.

Yeah you're right. But confidence in the current backups is not high.

At some point, you have to give credit to the Colts defense. Was the Steelers offensive play call conservative? Yes, but the Colts D made some plays, and they made it tough to rely on the running game, which takes PA out of the equation. Rudolph is a work in progress. Have to stick with him.

Both lines were a disappointment today. They went against the big boys.

Remember in Bradys first year he went for 18td and 12 ints. I haven't looked up all the sats but Mason comes close. He's better then a lot of the starters the Steelers had before Ben. I think he could be special once they take the game manager title off him.

He could use a better WR group as well. Just MHO.
