Anyone just see the roughing the passer call against the Chiefs? What a joke the NFL is becoming. Chiefs got totally screwed. And the one on Brady yesterday was ridiculous, while Pickett gets drilled on his slide and doesn’t get a call

Rookie isn’t going to get that call. NFL wants to protect its paid/veteran QBs. All I really got but Ben never got those calls. So idk. Common denominator is Tomlin. Maybe the refs/league don’t like him

I would say it was a different league but the NHL did a horrible job protecting Crosby too.

The officials he's talking about. Try keeping up or go to the office. They're hot garbage and way too inconsistent.

Out of the uncountable number of bad calls over the decades, these are quite possibly the worst calls I've ever seen a ref make

Yeah, by the letter there should have been a flag in the Pickett slide. Dude launched after he was into his slide not before and made no attempt not to hit him in the upper body.

That last tackle though was just nasty. I could see if he was just going for the tackle, but that guy grabbed the foot, twisted and held onto it after they came down (gave it an extra turn too). That's what Kenny was pissed about.

It's subtle but that's a nasty cheap shot that usually gets done in the pile. Dude just did it in the open field, then had the nerve to act all mad when Kenny stood up for himself.

If we are talking about roughing the passer, I thought the hit on Tua was worse than either of those other 2 sacks. Slung him down with violent intent, which I didn't see in the other 2 plays.

    One more thing.

The Freiermuth hit was dirty as hell too! Dude came in and took a headshot deliberately. He took that shot, looked over to see if he was getting flagged for it and then slinked away like an *******!

This crap won't stop until these guys start getting consistently called for it and teams start losing games because of ejections!

Im waiting on firings for such blatant malfeasance.
The NFL needs to send a message...make such an over the top terrible call like that on Sunday, get a pink slip on Monday.

Except the direction to call this stuff comes from the league.
The league is focusing on the liability of concussions as well as protecting the stars of the league, which is mostly QB's.
The refs are just doing what they're told. Some call more than others, but still, the league pressures them to call this stuff

Vegas didn’t give us a chance to win and we were far from pulling off an upset. There was no reason for the refs to try to influence the outcome

Against the Pats Mitch was being sacked by 2 players and while he was down a third Dlinemen jumped on the pile with no call. So last night full body weight explanation seems hollow. All of this goes back to who ever the ref crew is and how they feel about the QB's playing. Sad that it is something subjective like that. Good topic was considering do it myself.

Mario got a few calls but unfortunately it involved him getting mugged for them to call it because no one believes a man his size gets taken down by Kasperitis. I can't help but think how much more he would have played if not for the NZT and obstruction hockey of the late 90's.

Yes but they also make it completely subjective. There is no baseline or consistency in what is or isn't a penalty.

The roughing the passing rules are a problem. You can't hit the quarterback near the head or below the knee. You can't land on them, but now you can't pull them down hard, either. There is no really way to sack a quarterback without some risk of a penalty. It is a disgrace.

Even worse, there is no consistency to the way these things are called. Breathe wrong on Tom Brady and risk the wrath of the officials. Bash Ben Roethlisberger in the face hard enough to break his nose? No problem.

The hit on Pickett while he was sliding should have drawn a penalty, but it was at least a close call. He isn't a passer at that point. He is a runner. It was still a bad miss by the officials. Pickett actually defended the guy who hit him, a former college teammate.

The hit by Shaq Lawson at the end of the game was dirty. He dove at Pickett's lower leg and got him just below the knee right as he threw. That violates the Tom Brady rule. You cannot hit a quarterback below the knee. Hell, I saw Aaron Smith once four touching Drew Brees's shoe with his hand. This was a violent hit that could have injured Pickett's knee. The rookie was right to be pissed and try to pursue some justice of his own given that the officials failed to do their jobs on the play.

Of course nobody is saying this, but this is Why I like My Qb to stay in the pocket....as much as possible.....that's where the rules protect them....every player that got flagged for roughing the passer ....was when the Qb was in the pocket.....not outside the pocket.

Congratulations! Very few people would take a thread about ridiculously bad calls and blame it on Tomlin! You’re special!
