Jimmy Buffett has died. Great songwriter! Most of his songs make perfect sense to those in my industry. They take on a lot of meaning when you've been on a boat, away from home for months in the tropics!.

RIP....I thought He was older. You know I always thought it strange how many straight up country fans loved Him. I could be losing the crowd, and play one of His song....bam...cheers.

A friend is a huge Jimmy Buffet fan and turned me on to him back in the 70’s

He and his wife stopped at Sloppy Joe’s Key West got a beer he wanted to show his wife where he and I used to go

It was a really nice day so the only table available was shoved up next to the stage in back it had 3 seats

A party upstairs broke up as the band was setting the stage

Jimmy came down and asked my buddy and his wife if he could sit with them to watch the band

    Apparently he was really nice

Yea, he had something that most any crowd could get lost in, enjoy, and just drift away and relax to. Another was John Denver, got squirrely at times, but there are times when Country Roads and Rocky Mountain high comes on and I just turn it up and get lost for awhile, Jimmy hits me the same way.

Not a fan but did enjoy two of his songs. Today on a short drive he was on 3 of my 4 stations.

Of course he is resting in peace, he's having a cheeseburger in paradise. I'll let you guess what he is drinking?

RIP Sir Parrot Head! Enjoyed your burger joint in Honolulu! Sang/helped sing your keynote hit Karaoke-style way too many times at weddings and Old Fart birthday bashes. Received a formal fundraiser party invite many years ago which were printed on broken 45 RPM records and the underlying record title on mine was "Let's all get drunk and screw". Never figured out who picked that record for me. (Alas :drinks:).

It didn't even occur to me. But I saw someone point it out. "How ironic that he passed on Labor Day Weekend." I'm not sure that "ironic" is the word. Fitting would be more accurate maybe.

I went to the original Margaritaville many years ago. I didn't like the commercialism of the whole thing, So I went down to Captain Tony's just to get out of the heat!

My venture was to none other than Cheeseburger in Paradise, of course. wimpy.jpg
It was fun (for my family) and very reasonable at the time.

Still love that song. Played it many times in front of a crowd of drunken fools. :guitarplayer:
