Jim Ladd just passed away Saturday at 75. He was the namesake of Petty's famous tune The Last DJ. He was quite a pioneer in the DJ world of setting hour+ long nuanced themes on his radio shows. Didn't agree with all he had to say socially but his music threads were iconic and quite enjoyable over the last 40+ years since his days on FM rock stations in So Cal. He turned me on to a lot of music that I would not have otherwise heard or even known about. Well done Sir!

Any chance he is of the blood line of Alan Ladd?? Guy was an actor way back. Shane is only movie that comes to mind. I'm guessing you are old enough to have heard of him.

Hey good for you getting two 1:30 games in a row. They are such a joy to behold;)

I've never heard that they were related however Cheryl Ladd of Charlies Angels (TV show) fame was married to Alan Ladd's son Alan Jr who was a big time Hollywood Producer at one time.

And yes, loving those 1:30pm Saturday starts out here on the left coast though I may have to watch after 4:30 on NFL+ delay as I don't subscribe to a cable service with LA stations and too far for airwav reception, only numerous streaming services. I have Paramount+ that shows locally broadcast CBS sports games but not Peacock.
