Your friend is one of about a dozen people who are actual fans of the Chokers and probably doesn't live here in San Diego. Long, long ago; in a galaxy far, far away; I was like your friend. 1968-1971 that was. Even at the age of 15 I could see, (like Archie Manning) that the Chargers had no commitment to winning and I jumped on the Steelers bandwagon. Just in time for the dynasty years part 1. Except for your friend, my nephews, my brother and a SMALL handful of others, there's no real support for the Chargers in this town.

I don't live there but Chargers have always been one of the teams I have liked since the days of Fouts and Winslow, that was a fun team to watch.

Yeah, I remember those Fouts' teams as being practically impossible to stop on offense at times. Yet, no Super Bowls. I cannot recall but they must not have had any defense. They were impressive to watch on offense. I really think we could be that good without Bruce Arians. We have the right weapons, with the right call at the right time...

Granted, the Chargers have had outstanding individual talent through the years. Especially the "air Coryell" years. During that time, there really was no defense but, the real problem with this team has always been ownership, from Hilton who had the team as a "toy" to the current absentee owner, Alex Spanos. Add in the fact that so many people in San Diego are from somewhere else and brought their team loyalties with them, and you can understand why there's no REAL passion for this franchise. The Bengals west, if you ask me.

Right now, to me, it's Patriots, by a wide margin.

I would actually say that the Chargers are my 2nd favorite team in the NFL. When I was young I used to really like Junior Seau and I think it's a tragedy that a player that great never won a title. Also thanks to the disgrace that was Super Bowl 42. I really get mad when people say that Ben is not as good as Eli. Ben would take his lunch money any day of the week. Ben is BY FAR the best qb taken in that draft. PERIOD!

Success can breed hatred. Think anyone would give a damn about us if we sucked? :flag:

We did for many years! I remember my dad telling me how bad we were before the 70s. He said it was as bad as it could be for as long as he could remember.
