Real Head Scratchers

here’s a breakdown of sunday’s game by a former nfl and cfl qb. I’m not a huge fan of this guy. I just think he’s kind of an ass. However, he still played the position at the professional level had has a lot of insight. He doesn’t show any favoritism either. He’s equally critical of Canada, picket, wide receivers…he breaks down this play at around the 28 minute mark.

 

That really shows his lack of being able to read the defense and he's locked into one guy.

 

The QB play is so poor I have to believe that the coaches weren't instructing reads and concepts properly. We know Pickett can read a field. He did it last year and he did it in college. He's not the best at it, but he can do it. Why all of a sudden can he not make simple reads? Why is he always looking in the wrong direction? Either he's one of the worst QB's in the league and is a bust, or there were major issues with the coaching staff that resulted in him failing. If it's not the latter, next year is going to be another long year.

It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in Sullivan though. Why wasn't Sullivan able to address these issues?

 

He wasn’t making reads against zone last year and isn’t doing it this year.

 

I saw one video on talking about the fundamental flaws in Canada’s concepts, which seemed to add to the problem. But it’s not clear how much is designed reads and how much is Kenny.

I agree that I doubt we’ll see too much change with Sullivan. All the more frustrating that they didn’t do this in the bye week at least

 

He's not making reads against man either. It's more than just that though. There are some plays where it's obvious who the first read is, but he doesn't even look their way sometimes. It's like there's a huge lack of communication between the play design and Pickett. It's not even just the play call, it's like Pickett doesn't understand the play design.

He's not even looking in the right spots. That's not a zone or man issue. There's bigger issues at play.

 

As far as im concerned he does. If he's leading DJ with the pass he most definitely does because he's throwing away from the pressure

 

Exactly...teams seen that ,and changed. That's one of the reasons for regression.
