Apologize in advance if this was already posted but an interesting stat below

The poster on Twitter also claims KP is greater in the league average in inaccuracy and had more time to throw than the league average!

On defense...I was also thinking that the competition would go 5 wide to exploit the Steelers injured back end.

Then was wondering why doesnt KP do some of this with 5 wide and let the WR catch his short game underneath and let them run in space.

The D then couldnt do man two man all game because with KP...he is still a threat to run.

Then there is the whole thing about Play action and RB screens which by simple film study...the opposing defenses have been sniffing out for years.

The argument of KP was stunted by Canada or was Canada limited by KP will at least be solved sooner than later now.

Many of the All 22 podcasts/Youtubers seem to be feeling the blame was a little bit of both

Maybe those concussions slowed KPs progressions but just like everyone here...trying to figure out how the passing game historically poor.

I saw this the other day, but it wasn’t on Twitter. Basically bigk is the worst in the league at every advanced statistic. It’s not hard to understand why when the vast majority of his pass attempts are at or behind the line of scrimmage.

The biggest head scratcher, for me and something the new coaching staff needs to get figured out quickly, is Picketts regression from last year. The improvements he made last year from the beginning to the end of the season were clear and obvious. He was making accurate and on time throws last year that we've seen very little of this season. Granted, he was far from perfect last year but he was moving in the right direction. Last year, he still broke the pocket too early at times but he would also stand in there and deliver throws with the pocket collapsing, something we've also seen very little of this season
They were taking about him on McAfees show and brought up many of the same things members of this board have pointed out. He just doesn't trust himself this season and is bailing the pocket when often times it's a clean pocket.
I feel like right now, Pickett is in his own head bad and it's up to him and the coaching staff to work through that. Or he just moves on as another casualty of the NFL.

I was surprised when another poster pointed out the average time a QB has. The damn game is fast. Watching that Browns nightmare it looked like he had no time at all. Surprising. I know one thing for certain if I had those frigging oversized monsters wanting to pound me down I'd be first QB in history taking the snap 30 yards back;)

Speaking of head scratchers...on the Jim McAfee show today they reviewed a play they believe contributed to MC being fired as OC. It was a screenplay to Jaylen in the Browns game where the receivers to his side were supposed to block the corners in front of them but instead all three ran pass patterns. Needless to say the three defenders dropped Jaylen for a loss. This was another reflection of the lack of/poor coaching on the offensive side of the ball.

That being said the Steelers could potentially use it to their advantage on future possessions by running the same formation but using Warren as a decoy and have KP pump fake the throw in the hopes that the defenders bite hard and flock to Warren like they did on the play that failed leaving three WRs wide open.

They could always throw it backwards and have Warren toss it to the open man also as a rb option.

Do you think this is fixable or you were never a fan of KP out of Pitt?

I get emotional on the Game Day Thread but its Wens and I am still searching for answers on the the regression.

I do remember Tua not being able to see the field and would dump off to the RB in the flat in his rookie year. Fast Forward and he is showing Alabama flashes.

The fact none of the receivers blocked or attempted to and just ran routes says that wasn’t supposed to be a screen pass. Additionally were there any offensive linemen out there? No there weren’t. That wasn’t a screen pass. They had pickens isolated one on one on that play. Kenny took the snap and immediatley threw to tbe checkdown(Warren).

The argument for the toughest thing in sports is to hit a 95 mph fastball.

I respectfully disagree and think it was Joe Montana needing to run through 3 progressions in 3 seconds. He must have seen things in the corner of his eyes to scan the field to quickly filter coverage

Yeah you're right...they did show that Pickens was by himself on the other side of the field in a 1 on 1 matchup and Kenny immediately turned and threw it to Warren. He didn't even look Pickens way. I wish i could post the video.

Look at this breakdown for issues throughout the season including last game. It does briefly show the play that I was referring too, but its also proving Kenny is just as much responsible for all the issues as Canada.

Until big k became a steeler I had never watched a single play by the guy. That’s not an indictment of him. I simply don’t watch Pitt. I have no reason to watch their games. I didnt go to school there. None of my family went to school there. On top of that I live in Georgia. So with that out of the way. Is he fixable? Maybe. To me we’ve seen a whole lot of bad football from him. There’s been some good, but the vast majority hasn’t been good. Every single game this season we’ve seen wide open receivers coming across the field, kenny opts for a 2 yard pass, and fans scream we never throw to the middle of the field. Fans here love to blame the scheme. They point to the talking heads saying our offense is too simple. Or to players that say they know what’s coming. Well riddle me this if our offense is so simple and defenders know what is coming why do we have wide open receivers during every game? One of my main concerns coming into the season was will he improve against zone coverage(those concerns are well documented on this forum). To date kenny hasn’t shown any improvement vs zone and that’s a huge problem. His accuracy is an issue as well. Look at the swing pass to Harris vs the browns. I think it was 3rd and 4. Kenny throws the ball to Harris on a swing pass, but it’s behind him. So Harris has to turn around, catch the ball, and then try to regain momentum. He doesn’t, tackled for a loss, and we have to punt yet once again. Harris is a 250lb back if he doesn’t have to turn around it’s more than likely a first down. I truly want the guy to succeed. I want every single player we draft or sign to succeed. It only makes us a better football team. So can he be fixed? I honestly don’t know. If I were a betting man I would bet against him. Here is some hope(maybe) and I have to admit I may be reading the tea leaves a little too much. During Tomlin’s press conference yesterday one of the qualities he attributed to both Faulkner and Sullivan was their ability to communicate. Later in the day I was listening to the Ramon foster show. During the show Ramon mentioned that Canada was basically a recluse. Players had a really hard time communicating with him. So maybe there is some hope. However, communication between coordinator and quarterback isn’t going to fix his propensity for running into pressure, his accuracy, happy feet, or his ability to read a defense. The onus is on him now. He and the rest of the offense have to put up or shut up.

Thanks for taking the time. I am from CT so the little I learned was from the draft hype where everyone has a hype train on social media, youtube, etc

I am spoiled and took for granted the Steelers would just plug and play another top 10 QB for the next 15 to 20 years. Ugh

I dunno, in my head I keep seeing a stains Jersey blow by Seamalu into KPs face as soon as the ball was hiked. That was right up the middle. Then of course was all the rest of the action from the edge on him. The O line needs fixed and that’s something that takes time to get the right pieces.

I think that’s one of those in a perfect world scenarios. Off the top of my head I can only think of two instances where that happened. They were Montana > Young and Favre > Rodgers. In both instances the backups sat and learned the game before being handed the reigns.

Here is a perfect example. Here you’ll see dj come across the middle wide open. This is pop Warner open too. This should be a flick of the wrist, touchdown, and a Steelers win. Instead we get Kenny getting himself sacked. We see this week in and week out. This isn’t a scheme issue. It isn’t a route issue. It isn’t an offensive line issue. This is a bigk issue.

That’s the clearest example of all that Kenny has regressed this season. Thanks for posting that.

Your theory makes perfect sense, but with some of the nonsense that has gone on with this offence the last couple years, nothing would surprise me.

I think an explanation of KPs regression this yr is that teams now have film on him. They know his tendencies and scheme accordingly.

I can’t hit Stop to capture it, but does KFP have a clear passing lane as DJ comes across? It looks like there’s a Brown pushing up the middle.
