Well, he's got experience going against the Ravens and should at least have done film study and have an idea of how they like to attack the QB in blitz pick-up. Probably a good signing considering the need at this point.

I was just hoping they weren't gonna try to use Archer in Bell's place

I think it would be a good pick up. If nothing more than having him as a small insurance policy. Definately going to need some pass protection, and we all know Archer cant handle that.

All for it, but kinda strange a team can bring a player in off the street and have them available in the post season. Guess it's not like baseball where you need to be on the roster by Sept 1 to qualify for the post season.

Insurance is a good thing. He's not a bad RB despite what happened this year, and you can bet he'll go all out to show the rest of the league what he can do in the spotlight. I would expect him to get at least 8-10 touches Saturday.

I kinda like this because they are going to need a veteran RB in the mix- I think - for a backup next year. I wonder who goes off the roster if he is signed -Ike to IR maybe.

Well that is the question isn't it? How much time will he see? Is he starting?

Too bad Blount couldn't shut his mouth for a few weeks. He'd be a good bruiser vs the ravens, in my opinion. Might as well add Tate, same thing, nice and sturdy back.

Hope this doesn't blow up in their face, I didn't even know he went to another team after Cleveland, Vikings got rid of him after 3 short weeks.

Not sure how he is going to pick up the playbook in a couple of practices either. Think I'd be more comfortable rolling with Harris, and if Harris is getting more touches, will Tate stomp his feet about it.

Thats a very good point. I personally would rather see Harris at least open the game, give him a chance to do his job instead of handing it over to someone who hasn't been with team for more than 5 days (at that point).

agreed! Bell and Blount were a nice 1-2 punch in my opinion...hopefully Tate will be able to fill in nicely

Tate is unemployed and i'm sure a check would be ok with him at this time. And i'm sure he will be told what the situation is.
Harris will get the start and Johnson will probably be used in pass protection. If Harris goes down you want Archer back there? I don't. Sign Tate...

This is exactly what I was worried about when we did not give any reps to another RB. Why not give someone else 2-5 carries each game just to prepare your team. We could have Harris with 40-50 meaningful carries and not so worried.

RB is an easy spot to get a few touches for someone else. I really think it is on coaches that another back is not ready.

especially when you cut Blount. The other two are young so have to get probably Harris a little time each game.

I think a running combo of Will Johnson and Josh Harris would be serviceable against the Ravens.

How much could Tate really do, sitting on his butt and no playbook knowledge?

From what I understand, RB is one of the easier positions to learn. So, as long as Tate is in shape, he should be able to carry the ball 10-15 carries and stay in for blitz pick up for several plays. IMHO, any play he is in versus Dri Archer is an improvement. I do expect Harris to start even if they sign Tate.

They have Will Johnson. Tate has less than 5 days to learn the playbook, you want him blowing an assignment resulting in a costly TO?

Collecting pay check didn't seem to important to him in the past.

Theres pros and cons to each side.

Not really - he only had 23 yds against them last time.

But anything is better than nothing. Hope Tate is the fill-in answer this week.

The Vikings brough him in for the same reason two of their three rbs were injured. He wasn't bad just an insurance policy. Once Asiata was healthy a guy with three weeks practice wasn't going to unseat him.vikings were done and out of playoff contention so they released him.
