Ravens announce that they have fired Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron. Jim Caldwell will take his place.

I got on the Ravens message board last night, and the fans were PISSED at the game plan. Actually it was like being on our message board after we lost yesterday. They were complaining about the same stuff- the coaching, the game plan, the lack of effort by the players.

I guess management feels like some of us here, that they were lucky to be 9-2, now that they have lost 2 in a row, maybe they are afraid the wheels are going to fall off and hoping a switch can turn them around. I've just always been of the school of thought that it is very bad to change coaches mid season. I hope I'm right and it has a negative affect :taunt:

Cameron's been holding the Raven's back for years, this was a good move. If you look at all of the Raven's bad losses over the years, he forgets about Ray Rice in nearly all of them.

Rice makes that offense move, and makes Flacco look like a good QB when the play-action pass is set up well. Rice didn't get a touch in the 4th quarter against us last week.

Flacco fumbles the ball away, throws a pick, so firing the OC will fix that problem for them, I dont get the logic in that message, but of course they have a dunce for a head coach who cant accept any responsibility for his teams problems so finding a scapegoat is his solution, flacco is the problem and he is in a contract year so maybe he's the next one to get fired because coach hairball is after all perfect...

The OC constantly abandoned their best weapon, Ray Rice. He deserved to be fired long ago. His playcalling was awful and I think this will help the Ravens, not hurt them

Last week, on the "winning the division" thread, I predicted the Ravens would implode in the final weeks and that the Steelers had a realistic shot at the division title. So I am not surprised that the Ravens are suddenly in turmoil. Too bad the Steelers couldn't apply the heat by winning a very winnable game yesterday. The frustration over this is immeasurable.

That may be the perception, but the stats dont bear it out, rice had 1,339 yards in 09, in 010 he had 1,220 yards, in 011 he had 1,364 yards, this year he has 993 yards in 13 games, being a midget he wont stay healthy if they increase his almost 275 carries a season about where his average is, I dont see where he has been abandoned, if they want to increase his carries to 400 a season he wont be around long, thats for sure, I hope they do increase his carries, that means he wont be around very long, and thats good for us.....

True story, this is good news for them, bad news for the rest of the NFL.

Last season the Ravens dropped very winnable games to Tennessee(9-7), Jacksonville(5-11), Seattle(7-9), and San Diego(8-8).

    Rice's carries in each game...
    TEN- 13
    JAX- 8
    SEA- 5
    SD- 10

I understand not killing the guy, but when you're losing to inferior opponents, you give the ball to by far you best offensive weapon.

Jim Caldwell has never called an offensive game in his life, so this isn't likely going to be a whole lot of help for them in the immediate future.

What makes anyone think Caldwell is going to make any difference as the new OC? He's never been an OC during his coaching career in college or the NFL, he has always been a receiver or OB coach, good luck with him, putting a rookie OC in at the end of the season is big risk in my opinion...

All he has to do is give the ball to Rice more than Cam did and they'll be better off.

    This too shocked me.

I also believe that the Ravens are in the midst of an implosion that will see them finish no better than 10-6. However, it is their defense that's been underachieving this year, not the offense.

Something deeper must be going on here, this is a panic move by a team in first place by 2 games with 3 to go!

The only thing keeping him healty is no one can get good hits on him consistantly. Cam tried to keep him on a pitch count. It's no suprise that the big name RB's that are the key to thier offenses always get hurt at some point when they run them 25-30 carries a game. There just aren't any Bettis type players out there.
