They are pulling that out of thin air. Steelers are tighter than a drum about the draft.

If you are getting your info off the street, please wash your hands.

Any info like this is BS someone made up. You know teams don’t leak info like this.

Yeah you got a lot of good points. But he has a lot more gas in the tank then Ben and is playing at a much higher level. Maybe the new surroundings invigorate him and he's got the perfect coach in Mikey t to basically tell him what to do and have his way. I was just basically saying that having a top-notch quarterback come right in might not make the wait so long for the rebuild. I have no faith Mike Tomlin will never see another Super Bowl as head coach of the Steelers without a top-notch quarterback like ben used to be or like Rodgers is now to cover all the flaws and lack of coaching he brings to the table.

Agreed. I feel this season was our throw away to see what we have and don't have. As well as let Ben one last ride.

The prospect of Ryan, Carr, Cousins, or some other recycle does nothing for me. Less than Rudolph? Close call. I'll assume that any of the recycles mentioned would want a multi-year deal that will cost some useless cap money so for me, that's a dealbreaker.

If they don't like anyone in the draft, then just go with MR and wait til 2023. Very unappealing, but sometimes you gotta just take your medicine.

There is no high profile QB that could come in and save the day. We need other building blocks firsts.

What about kicking the tires of Gardner Minshew? He'd cost a mid round pick at worst. And on the field he does have some upside.

I thought about him too. The problem is that I don't know if the Eagles want to trade him away because he is actually better than Jalen Hurts.

The article severely limits the amount of UFA QB's next year. The Steelers DO NOT have the draft capital to acquire Rodgers or Garraopolo, ain't happening. If it's not Mason Rudolph, which I think it will be, it will probably come from one of the UFA's available. The list includes: Nick Foles, Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brisette, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Marriota, Mitch Trubisky, or Trevor Siemian. Tomlin does not want to start a rookie. Rudolph has been here in the system for years. They could draft a QB in the later rounds to develop, or sign a Vet to compete.

I agree with you. Eagles have a pretty dumb track record with QBs so I dunno lol

I think Matt Ryan is a short term upgrade in a new offense. In this offense - no way. Ben is tougher.

He does have a better yards per completion and better completion %. He's 36 but probably 10 "football" years younger than Ben. I would not have a problem signing him if Ben retires.

This QB class is not good. Pickett is probably the only starting QB in the group and he's not a sure thing at all. I don't see us trading for a QB or trading up to get Pickett. We can't afford to lose the draft picks. Unless someone wanted Bush ? lol Even if Picket falls do we really want to gamble that pick on him? When we have so many needs. I guess if you want Mason as the starter and plan on Pickett coming in after we are eliminated from the playoffs? You just don't see too many Qb's develop well in a scenario like that...with our O-line.

IMO the only option we have is a FA signing or a draft pick. So if Ryan gets cut why not sign him to a 3 year deal? We can always cut him later. It buys us time to draft and develop a long term Qb from a better draft class.

It's funny how so many are sour on Ben but if you look at the NFL QB stats ...he's 12th in the NFL in yards per game .. Think about that for a minute. How bad is the NFL right now? The QB's ahead of Ben are the playoff teams - minus Tennessee and NE. The reason we suck on offense is our O-line and WR issues. It's not Ben. The stats prove this. Sure it's ugly but any team with our O-line is gonna be ugly.

I think the NFL as a whole is just awful this season. We've looked horrendous but yet we're sitting at 6-6-1. I dunno if there's a covid carryover or some some****. But the product is very unwatchable.

funny thing is Rogers was bending over backwards to show Tomlin some love. I think he just wants out of GB and likes Pittsburgh and Tomlin.

That's what I'm thinking. I still would take rogers for a short time until a solid young option is available. Seen how a great franchise quality qb can help hide a multitude of sins. Not sure a rookie will succeed under the current coaching staff and shoddy line. Rogers would basically call the shots like in GB. He excellent at reading the field and throw very few INTS. For quick rebuild that's the way I would try to go but understand the drawbacks as well and how unlikely it is to happen.

I would be absolutely amazed if a trade was completed for Wilson, Rodgers, and most of all Watson. If the Steelers did this, I would be amazed as it has not been their style to give up a bunch of draft stock for big name QBs.

Most likely they will sign one of your vets. They like the washed up 1st rounders lol. Hello Tribiskey.

They'll probably give the reigns to Rudolph and make him compete with your average vet.

I don't think Pickett will last past a top 10. pick. Everyone overdrafts QBs i don't think we can get him. Maybe they'll draft a QB with the 2nd round pick. Think Kordell.

I believe they go offensive line with their first pick. Probably left tackle.

This has been the Steeler way. Let's see if it changes

    TIFWIW.

Todd McShay now has Pickett being the first QB taken in the 2022 draft at 12th overall by your Pittsburgh Steelers.

That just means that there is no chance that the Steelers get Pickett.....McShay is never right.

it depends on who needs a QB and who is willing to trade up. Looking at the current top 10:

    1. Lions - They have Geoff...will they give him another year?
    2. Texans - It's about if they are sticking with Watson or moving on
    3. Jaguars - Hard no
    4. Jets - Hard no
    5. Giants - This could be if they move on from Daniel Jones
    6. Panthers - This could be if they move on for Darnold
    7. Giants (again) - Again, Daniel Jones
    8. Falcons - High possibility, depends on them riding with Ryan another year
    9. Jets (again) - Hard no
    10. Eagles - All depends on the Eagles feelings about Hurts
    11. Raiders - Hard no
    12. Steelers - NEEDS A QB

So a lot of this comes down to how many vets are going to move around via trade and if some of these teams with younger QB's are ready to move on. The QB need in the NFL isn't as great as the past 2 years though.

If Pickett is still there at 12 and the Steelers have that pick, they need to get him. Steelers need to get lucky like the Chargers did with Herbert. Pickett seems to have what it takes to be a good NFL QB. My only question is, does he last until 12? No QB's picked in the first 11? that doesn't seem likely to me.
