Let me start off by saying that I'm a huge supporter of Mike Adams. I think he's the best tackle prospect that we've had in a long time. So I tried to chart this game accurately and without bias. I charted how many times Adams was singled up man to man in pass-pro and how many times he was given help. With that being said this is what I found.

Adams vs JPP- 11 one on one matchups, 1 sack allowed and it could be argued that he was supposed to get help from Foster on the sack. It looked to me like Foster was supposed to help Adams but was late getting there. I could be wrong so I chalked up a sack against Adams 1 on 1 with JPP.

Adams vs Tuck- 18 one on one matchups, 1 sack allowed and he was beaten soundly with a swim move back to the inside on the play.

Adams vs Kiawanuka- 2 one on ones's, 0 sacks

Adams vs Joseph- 2 one on one's, 0 sacks

In addition, Adams was only helped twice by Heath in the passing game.

Both times he was beaten, he was widened out and beaten with a swim move back inside. This is encouraging to me and can be fixed with good coaching.

The other sacks should have been attributed to Max and Pouncey. Max was beaten on a speed rush by Umenyiora that caused the sack-fumble-TD and Pouncey was given a sack allowed when Ben scrambled to the right and Pouncey's guy got to him.

All in all an outstanding game by the O-line and the suggestion that Heath is required to stay in and block because of Adams is unfounded.

    That's a nice analysis.

I agree that the O-Line has been playing much better. I can't wait to see what Mendenhall can do with the O-Line's current blocking!

there was alot of extra protection later in the game. with either a TE (not just heath) or FB or RB. paulson was over on adams side a time or two i noticed. adams has been doing much better in pass protection, but that outside in move is still his downfall on either side. he'll have to work on that one.

how many times did max get help 58? do you have those numbers? sorry don't mean to give you extra work? :hello:

Heath stayed in to help Max on 3 different pass plays. It really had more to do with where JPP was lined up but by no means did they double JPP all game like Phil Simms was suggesting. I didn't count RB chips because they're not designated double teams and were often the release check-down option.
