Good point in here about the Steelers addressing a lot in FA making using picks to move up more feasible.

Why am I afraid of this? Bud Dupree, Artie Burns and Terrell Edmunds. All guys who were raw and were drafted on physical traits more than actual on field performance. Like Willis they sometimes flashed their potential in college, but needed considerable development to become the players that their raw talent suggested that they could be. Dupree came the closest (so far), and it took until his 5th season playing opposite a future HOFer who commanded the attention of the opponent’s protection scheme.

Can Willis be really good? Yes. What are the odds of him becoming a Josh Allen caliber QB? Maybe 15-20%?

They would be putting him in the best possible position to succeed though. Spending a year on the bench learning behind Trubisky.

Hmmm... disagree here regarding total control via Tomlin here. If this were the case, Tomlin could have easily been named as GM in addition to coach. Not only that, Pittsburgh would have found a GM to caters to Tomlins every whim long by now.

For that matter, none of us know how the Draft War Room discussions go. For all we know, Colbert and Tomlin have butted heads many times. I seriously doubt though that Tomlin has total autonomy of the hiring process. How so?!

Art Rooney II himself is overseeing the search for the next GM; Colbert himself assisting. Tomlin is involved as well but only the interview process.. not so much being involved with who AR II contacts himself. In short?! The team is doing its upmost diligence to find someone who will not just tell Tomlin what he needs to hear but also AR 2 the same.

I would imagine so. That would be my only explanation in all honesty. That or unless the team elects to keep both; have Brandon Hunt as the GM and Omar Kahn as the Assistant GM in addition to being the Team's VP. If not that, I am as intrigued as you are.

Teams nowadays usually do have Assistant GMs; the Colts and your guy Ed Dodds being one of them. However, if this were really the case.. why not just have both Kahn and Hunt already?! Furthermore, even if those two were not already considered, AR II never mentioned anything in regards to an Assistant GM... at all. Now that I think about it, the Steelers have never had one at all during Colbert's tenure. Now, things can change but I do not believe AR II is willing to add another GM into the FO if he can avoid. I can be wrong here but there seems to be no evidence pointing in that direction.

    :hi:

Fair enough good sir!! I suppose we will have to agree to disagree for the time being. Only way we will know for certain is to see how this goes moving forward with the new GM; whoever that may be.

Tomlin isn't even involved in the hiring process of the GM right now, it's Colbert and Art ll.

You can facepalm all you want, but you're wrong, Colbert told the media it's him and Art doing the initial interviews. He said once those two make a decision then Tomlin will be involved.

LoL. Sorry. I believe Qbs are important, but for everyone saying a Qb is all that matters, and that they can show Qbs winning. I can show how even those Great Qbs had great Defenses. Matter of fact I can't think of one Great Qb that won a SB without a great team around them, but I can think of quite a few Great teams that have won a SB without a great Qb.....So anyway....LoL....Yes I think Defense is extremely important.
