Playing around with the NFL.com playoff predictor

Seems like most all likely scenarios has us beating the Jets on tie breakers. The most probable of that which involves a loss for both teams is they lose to Pats and we lose to Broncos, we get in.

One where both teams lose two games and Jets get in is Jets lose to Cowboys and Pats and we lose to Broncos and Browns.

I prefer to rely on Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the answer - and that is, just win out - everything falls right into place and just maybe, possibly, we sneak in higher than a 6th seed if other teams collapse down the stretch. I'll take 6th seed all day long with the kind of season this has been, especially knowing there is not a single dominant team in the AFC at this stage of the season (final blow was dumba$$ Blount now on IR for the Patsies).

 

I hate to quote Al Davis but it does apply here. "Just win, baby!"

 

Speaking of Al Davis`s Raiders, they play KC at the end of the season and the Raiders ain`t bad. We could win out and get 5 seed.

 

I never liked the Raiders but I sure respected the teams they assembled in the 70's and thought that Madden and Davis were as colorful as they come - I know many of those players suffered terribly later in life from their injuries but that was football at it's best - true gladiator stuff with very few restraints. I suppose our rivalry with the Ravens the past 10-15 years was pretty intense but not quite an overall match with those with the Raiders in the 70's.

 

And Stickum was the raiders 12th man in that era, stickum won a few games for em....

 

I would love to get the 5th seed and play the AFC South winner.

 

Win out and get 2 seed, that's what I want

 

I think the slender hi-tech gloves they wear these days are far superior in effectiveness to the spray-on stickum - plus boogers and cut grass don't stick to the gloves - hell my hands used to look like Swamp Thing's back in the day but at least it smelt great - kind of like grape jelly!
