Wow I can't wait. Just imagine the thrill of witnessing a lot of running, dink and dunk passing and a safe defense that doesn't create turnovers. The field goal battles will be awesome!

Wow I can't wait. Just imagine the thrill of witnessing a lot of running (mmm, no one said that) dink and dunk passing (that hasn't even been mentioned in this thread) and a safe defense that doesn't create turnovers. (nor was that) The field goal battles will be awesome!

    Really grasped this thread

It's funny hearing this coming from plax, considering that was the main reason he left us

Money is the main reason he left us. Main reason any FA leaves for another team.

I find it hilarious that after last season people are still touting the WR's and the passing game as one of the teams strengths. I remember numerous discussions during the off-season, preseason and right up into the regular season where people were saying how they had one of the best receiving corps in the league with the young money crew, how they didn't need old broken down Ward(their belief not mine) that even Cotchery was basically not needed. It was said with that kind of strength why wouldn't you pass and pass often because you know it is a "passing" league now. So considering that several games were lost due in part to the Young Money crew dropping the ball literally I don't think coming back this season and touting that receiver corps as a strength is the way to go. Yes the RB's had fumbleitis too but I'm with others here when I would feel better closing out games with a solid run game than slinging it around.

I think the receiving corps will be stronger this year than it was last year now that the cancer is gone and we're in remission. Wallace may not have overtly damaged the chemistry of the receiveing crew but the whole spectacle of him declining a very good offer, holding out, reporting late, being unfocused (by his own admission) and having that far away South Beach look all season had to hurt the chemistry in some respect. I know it's way early, but the reports in Miami are already that Wallace has not established a good chemistry with Tannehill and they seem to be having a hard time connecting. Will that change and will they have a great season together? Maybe but I doubt it. Last year with Wallace the receivers became the Young Money (Hungry) Crew instead of the Young Money Crew. I hope this year they become the Young Hungry Crew!

Plax was quoted the year he left, as basically saying that we run the ball too much, and that he wanted to go somewhere that emphasized the pass first. Of course the money was another main temptation..... I'm just going off of his own statements at the time of his initial departure

I spent a little time this morning trying to find his post game rant after their playoff loss where he announced his intention of leaving the Steelers.

We win except against the elite teams in the playoffs, like most of the Cowher years.

“[Arizona at NY Giants: 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Giants by 3 – Plaxico Burress left Pittsburgh in free agency because all the Steelers did was run. Now, the veteran receiver is looking to make a connection with second-year quarterback Eli Manning.] Hopefully, ... that Manning-to-Burress thing can be a big thing around here.”

Yeah but, now Plax has had the benefit of taking all of those marketing classes & seminars for his men's hoseiery business, and based on his "press releases" so far in camp, it appears he paid attention. :lolol:

I remember but very few athletes turn down more money and Plax doesn't strike me as one of them. You can pretty much guarantee if the Steelers ended up offering more that he would have stayed and just did a little PR dance about speaking out of frustration and the Steelers are a class organization that know how to win blah blah blah.

People, the Steelers had to make a decision whether to keep Hines Ward or Plax, as some of you say the proof is in the pudding. I think the Steelers/Rooneys made the right DECISION to let Plax go and keep Hines Ward. Same as the Brown/Wallace situation.I also think they made the right decision. In the era of FA, you can't keep
    everybody you would like.

You're missing one huge piece of the puzzle with the pats-saints comparison. The Saints were one of the worst defenses in the league. That has a more of an impact on wins and losses than their running game.
