Gotta set the record straight on this:

When the whole losing to "bad" team argument is brought up by me.... I am referring to the PRIME Ben Roethlisberger Steelers from 2014-2018. You know, the last time Steelers had a legit Super Bowl window... with All Pro RB & WR, HOF QB and Pro Bowl OL. Here goes....

    2014: Browns, Bucs, Jets
    2015: Ryan Mallet-led Ravens
    2016: Dolphins
    2018: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders

All of which caused losing playoff seeding to the New England Patriots. Brady/Belichick beats all of those teams except the Dolphins.

And that falls into the bucket of time that I found someone claiming to have pulled the stats from.

So while we can run through the seasons and find losses to “bad” teams; the Steelers during the time period you are looking at were 5th in the entire league with an over 700 win percentage against .500 or lower teams.

Did they lose to bad teams? Yes. 24 times between 2010-2019. Did they lose MORE than the rest of the NFL? No. In fact, they were one of the better teams at winning those games.

if we are going to discuss this or that, we should at least use the actual facts and not how sad/angry a specific game made us feel.

This is one thing to lose against a 7-9 team, this is another to lose against a 5-11 type team or worst...In your list they lost to that type of team five times if I include the Bears in 2017 and sometimes like the game against the Titans in 2014 or the Colts in 2017 it was a very ugly win.

Well... those teams sucked and weren't even competing for the playoffs. So WTF? I was almost as pissed off after those games as I was when Steelers blew the '94 AFC Championship game. What all of these losses have in common is that there was no damn excuse for Steelers losing when they had the better f**king team.

And yes... I felt bad after those losses. I question the fandom of someone who just gets all pollyanna and says.. "aw shucks, we'll get 'em next time.":facepalm:

Complaining about the Steelers losing to Mallet led Ravens when he outplayed Ben in that game . In that Denver game the TE had what should've been a TD turn into a touch back, and Conner fumbled without being touched IIRC. And with a chance to tie or win the game at the end Ben threw an interception in the endzone to a DL , some losses deserve to be put into context.

    Ok.

I don’t think anyone is contesting that the Steelers were the better team on paper. I certainly wouldn’t.

But I will argue the point that the Steelers had a fundamental or systemic issue with losing to “bad teams “ in the prime of the Roethlisberger era. Despite the way specific losses might have made fans feel; the Steelers won more games against bad teams more than all but 4 other franchises for a roughly 10 year period.

As to the emotional reaction or not stuff - everyone can feel their own way. I’m far too old and have to much actual things going on in my life to get emotionally involved in sports. For 60 minutes once a week? Sure. Why not? After that? It’s just something fun to think about but it doesn’t alter my moods. That happens enough on its own!

Ben don't play defense.Ryan Mallett and the ravens offense had almost 400 offensive yards in this game and the steelers defense could not leave the field....The ravens offense had almost 35 minutes of time of possession and they had a 7 minutes drive in their opening drive for a TD and almost 5 minutes drive in their second drive for a FG.They were not ready to play...

The steelers offense had also awful starting field position all game long too, their best field starting position for the offense that game was at the PIT 23...Just brutal

Many fans just don't seem to understand that every offensive coordinator is trying to force the worst matchups for the defense. Getting a LB on a WR is the goal of every single OC in the NFL. It happens to every team when they are caught with bigger personnel on the field and can't match up with number of wides that are on the field, or the offense have the perfect play call against the called defense and the defense doesn't have time to get out of the bad matchup.

It's frustrating as hell when it happens to your team, but it happens to all teams.

Absolutely. The bad teams like Mallet-led Ravens, past-his-prime Vick-led Jets, Glennon-led Bucs, should be defeated quite handily. Popcorn shat the bed with prep, defense folded like a cheap tent more often....than Ben having an off game.

Teams serious about winning Super Bowls don't lose to bottom 10 ranked teams with losing records.

The highest paid player on the team and future hall of famer can't out play some scrub QBs, imagine losing to the Bengals third string QB on MNF .

Really. NE lost to the Raiders last year, I do believe they made it to the SB. Seattle lost to the Bucs last year , they won the SB

Ben isn't on the field when our defense is getting dominated by bad QBs.

Of course, you pick one of Ben's worst career games to make a point(against the bengals in 2020)

You know when the defense is on the field, their job is to stop the other team.....The offense have nothing to do with the first 2 long drives that the ravens offense with Ryan Mallett had....You can't ask Ben to save their ass every game like he did the game before against the Broncos when the steelers were down 27-13 at halftime because the awful broncos offense had 4 TD in 4 drives in a row in that half...So gave me a break

Bucs folded down the stretch, but they weren't as bad as Bucs, Jets and Browns were in '14.

We got the Raiders DC. :guitarplayer:

    Classic @steelersrule6@steelersrule6

You try to move the goalpost every time or to insult others when you know you're wrong...Not just with me but with several others members too.....If I am Ben's burner account, you're Mike Tomlin's wife, that's for sure.
